The Heartstarters are a band of seasoned musos who came together six years ago to play the original songs of singer/songwriter Jeff Jenkins.
The music is loaded with melodic pop hooks and vocal harmonies; the live performances are very high energy and audience involving.
Formerly known as Jeff Jenkins' Late Starters, the band released two CDs real time and Songs from the shed and have played some of Melbourne's premier inner city venues The Rainbow, Cornish Arms, Nighthawk Blues, Ruby's, The Greyhound and The Duke of Windsor as well as several roots music festivals.
Now with new bassplayer John Mitting (replacing founding member Mick Wenhuda), and Stuart Aldridge replacing David Johnson the bands direction is certainly more main stream commercial than ever before. The Heartstarters have released their third CD Amplifier which features 7 of Jeff's new songs.
The live set also features a number of great songs by artists who have influenced us over the decades Dylan, the Stones, Springsteen, Petty, the Kinks and many more.
Listen to a selection of original material here, and catch The Heartstarters live soon.
Motema Music has released my new CD, "Deacon Blues", the straight ahead organ trio I've been wanting to do for years. It's getting great reviews and lots of radio play - and it's only Jazz; Go figure! The CD features some good friends, including two of my favorite guitarists, Mike DeMicco and the phenomenal Joe Beck. Danny Gottlieb lays down the groove with my brother Tony guesting on bass for a couple of tracks.
The CD is available on line at AMAZON.COM or at WOODSTOCK CD (www.woodstockcd.com) where they also have artist-signed copies in stock. (arguably making them worth less!)
