In no particular order: Ted Leo, Neutral Milk Hotel, Neko Case, Motown, Jeanette Winterson, San Francisco, Sandra Cisneros, Martin Luther King Jr., Mates Of State, Pixies, The Clash, Descendants, Kate Bush, Cat Power, Johnny Cash, Eurythmics, Tegan and Sara, Feist, Melanie, Tricky, when Alternative music used to be called Underground, when Yo MTV Raps existed, Request Video on KDOC, KROQ in the late 80's, the jukebox video channel, The Smiths, The Cure and all the other bands that freaked my parents out.
It seems to me that most people have some third person account of who they are in this section. That’s not what I’m going to do. I’ll just tell you myself.
I’ve been playing guitar since I was twelve years old. The first song I learned was America The Beautiful. But it was really hard what with the peeling fingers and hand stretching so after six months of lessons, I quit playing for a year. (I’ve always been the easily frustrated, give up type. That’s another story though. A story that’s not over.) When I went back to the guitar, I could play it. It was really weird. Like I had been thinking about it that whole year and it was the same as practicing.
Getting up onstage for an open mic when I was sixteen was one of the most terrifying experiences in my whole life. I was shaking so bad that my little feet were thumping against the rungs of the bar stool they put me on to play. Back then my songs were a little more straightforward and a lot more emotionally brutal. Really sad songs. By the end of my fifteen minutes there was a woman in the back just uncontrollably sobbing. I had reduced her to a phlegmy, tear stained mess and that’s when I knew I had found what I wanted to do with my life. I’ve been performing ever since both solo and with a punk band for a few years called The Pre-Teens. We ruled then we broke up.
There are things I will need to make this my livelihood. Shows, press, management, distribution, promotion, etc. If you can help in any of those areas, please feel free to contact me. But all of these things are of no consequence if people don’t like the music. So what I really need is your support. If you’re digging the music, let’s be friends.
So I can hear you wondering what you’ll get for this. In return, I promise to keep writing, recording and playing shows. If enough people lend their support, I will probably play somewhere near you. It is my goal to keep this a transparent process. By that I mean that you will hear about my musical life and whether or not this becomes a more financially viable occupation than my current one. You can come with me. We can do it together.

Thanks again for adding me. Nice blend of guitar and vocals. I may have to catch you guys at Hotel Utah -- haven't been there since they stopped serving their amazing hamburgers on Dutch crunch buns. I hope you'll visit my page to check out "Killing Time in Tokyonesia" and some of my other songs. I'm hoping to release my first CD later this year. Keep up the good work and take care always.

Hey there, The Heated, you delicious little morsel! Panic Movement sends its love! We hope you are doing well. Please accept our thanks, good blessings, greetings, and hallucinations! Ichthyologist Brad Bloomberg says, “Reproduction is no fun if you're a squid, living in the deep blue sea." The man who lives three doors down from you has assembled a machine that can manipulate your thinking. Set his house on fire and go get yourself a cheeseburger. Using “I” statements is a constructive and healthful method for expressing your emotions. For example, you may say: “I feel scared when I see you yelling at my porcupine.” Please take time to practice good hygiene and treat animals well. Coin-operated self-service dog-washing machines are now available. In the darkness of the deep sea, the male squid sometimes misses the female altogether, inseminates himself, and shoves worms into his mouth. If you inadvertently break a shoelace, and eating grass does not quell your anxiety, you may want to drop out of society and live with kangaroos in the Australian outback. The meaning of life is to live it; and love God. From us to you - thank you, live life, have a good week, and be happy.
