The Chang started in London in 2003 when two Australians Javier De Angeles and the ramsmachine began writing and recording together. The band started with a hard edged rock funk sound and have recently been experimenting blending rock and electro sounds..
The band performed regularly in London and in 2006 were winners of The “Walkabout” battle of the bands competition. Soon after they recorded ‘Freakin Me Out’ with producer Jeremy Stacey one of the U.K’s most established drummers/producers.
The bands lyrical content is strongly motivated by social issues. Songs like ‘Future Is Already Here’, ‘Cystem’ and ‘Haters’ all focus on delivering awareness of social imbalance and encourage positive action through the spirit and power of music. .
In 2008 the band moved back to Sydney where they are currently writing and recording in their studio. They recently began working with engineer/musician extraordinaire Andy Page, who has recorded/mixed/performed on records for Britney Spears and Alanis Morissette. The first track of the new association is titled ‘Future Is Already Here’ and was written by the gen-X’ers to the up and coming generation Y.
