"Berg resides in New York but is originally from Greenville, making this release one of the finest folk-rock albums ever made by an Upstate musician. Only 22 years old, Berg sounds like a sage with a deep-throated vocal style that at various turns recalls Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Robyn Hitchcock. Hardly a typical singer-songwriter release, "Songs For Madame X" is full of lush musical arrangements and diverse instrumentation that makes it clear that Berg is a serious artist with unlimited potential."

About Aaron Berg:
Born in South Carolina in 1984, to mom and pop owners of a local independent record store, Aaron Berg was raised largely under a record bin and was playing in nightclubs and bars by fourteen. Originally an upright bass player, Aaron left South Carolina for New York City at age seventeen. He toured and recorded with a variety of folk and blues bands before eventually moving to a basement studio in the Hispanic section Brooklyn where he picked up guitar and began to write songs and sing in 2005. During his time in Brooklyn Berg fronted a four piece psychedelic folk band formed as a backing group called The Heavy Love. The band recorded one album titled 'Songs For Madame X', which has sold three printings since 2007 and is available for download at .
His affinity for traveling and singing deepened when he met and befriended the legendary bluegrass troubadour Peter Rowan, who was leadsinger for five years in the 1960's for American music icon Bill Monroe as well as contemporary musical counterpart for artists such as Tony Rice, Jerry Garcia, and Sam Bush. Before departing for the road himself he joined Rowan at The Windgap Folk Festival in Pennsylvania as the headlining act and performed in front of thousands. During this time he also met Chris Hillman of The Byrds, a temporary member of the of band's dynamic lineup.
In the last half of 2007, Berg traveled over 15,000 on the road from the coast of North Carolina to California's Pacific and back to the very same beach four months later. In 2008, Aaron returned to South Carolina where he began to record in a two-room garage apartment in Berg’s hometown of Greenville located in the Appalachian mountains just across the border from Asheville, NC. The resulting tracks combined with live road tapes, rap remixes, and the occasional thread-bare hotel demo make up the monthly podcast 'Love & Coffee' which is distributed as mp3s by email. To receive Aaron's podcast which is free, please join the email list above! The first seven songs from 'Love & Coffee' are now available at .
Berg’s live performances are not to be missed blending bizarre tales of the road with comedic quips and mysterious one-liners. Critics from New York to Nashville have described the live show as “riveting and uplifting from one hypnotic twist to the next...” and “...another Dylan on the cusp of something else very big.” Volume Two of ‘Love and Coffee Tapes’ is due out in March and will be gathered from a series of live one night sessions with Southern bandmates and friends. Berg’s second full length studio album titled ‘River Taxi Man’ will be released in the Fall of 2009.
