Finally,a Japanese reggae bass player,Takeshi 'HEAVY' Akimoto (REBEL FAMILIA) came back to the reggae music scene with the real reggae dub band,named THE HEAVYMANNERS.
It all started when Heavy announced at the stage of FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL 2001,that it became the last stage for DRY& HEAVY and they were going to spilit up.
Heavy was a leader and bass player of DRY & HEAVY and that band was known as the best Japanese dub band in Japan and Europe for those years.
In 2002, Heavy formed the group THE HEAVYMANNERS for a live performance with shing02 at THE FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL.
They gave a very memorable performance thus giving them the status of “legends”. There were a lot of high expectations for THE HEAVYMANNERS to firmly establish themselves in the music scene. Those expectations were not fulfilled, as THE HEAVYMANNERS had not performed since THE FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL nor did they release any music.
Heavy had decided to wait until the group became seasoned musicians with a little more experience. They would eventually present themselves to the world when the time was right.
Finally the time was right on July 27, 2007. THE HEAVYMANNERS had their live performance at the reggae event was called “RIDDIM CAMP”. There were performances,by Likkle Mai, Spina B-ill, The Cavemans and Rickie-G.
THE HEAVYMANNERS were the last artists to perform and they gave another memorable performance.
As a result they had the honor of being the only artists that night who were called back on stage for an encore.
THE HEAVYMANNERS have now officially arrived and are ready to make a heavy impact in the music scene.
They are now preparing for their first release.
