"Everyone in this band brings about a color and shape that has been encompassed by their own love of music and readiness to funk the hell out of the joint."
With the soul purpose of bringing good music to planet Earth, Christina LaRocca & Heavy Weather are blasting through the New York City music scene like an asteroid entering the atmosphere, and they are here to introduce you to an intricately spicy new groove. To explain it in words isn’t easy, but you can imagine their sound as something like Amy Winehouse stuffed inside Ben Harper’s heart while they funk out Bob Marley and Billie Holiday songs. On the verge of releasing their debut album “Miles of Mud” by Fall 2008, you will take one listen, wish you had heard them sooner and never look back.
Lead by soulful vocals & songwriting of Brooklyn native Christina LaRocca, Heavy Weather started playing out at clubs in early 2006. Though their mission is to get down, Christina's lyrics aren’t typical and reach out to those that are flippin’ the bird to love, spending Saturday night funkin’ the IV chord, embracing THC, and riding the planet of evil people. While Christina does most of the writing, Dorian Lake (percussion/vox), Carl Gallagher (guitar), Danny Gallagher (bass), Josh Steinhart (keys) and Mike Sutton (drums) attribute their unmatched stylings with intricate and groovy arranging.
