The Hello Strangers are a five-piece band from Mercersburg, PA performing a wide variety of original music in the genres of alternative country, Americana, roots and indie rock. Sisters Brechyn and Larissa Chace started the project in 2006 while residing in Austin, Texas. Upon moving back to their hometown of Mercersburg, the duo set out to find a group of talented musicians to back them up. They found Dave Holzwarth on bass, Katie O’Neil on drums, and Kevin Shannon on lead guitar. Larissa sings and plays rhythm guitar, while Brechyn sings and entertains on harmonica, accordion, and tambourine. The Hello Strangers have been performing as a full band since November 2008.
The sisters’ original songwriting will capture your heart, as strains of influences such as Lucinda Williams, Johnny Cash, Neko Case, as well as the country and folk traditions of Austin, TX are heard throughout their repertoire. Their vocal harmonies intertwine in a way only sisters can accomplish, and each song brings a unique flavor to their performance, catering to a wide variety of musical tastes. Their rhythm section ties it all together in a whimsical, eclectic package that is sure to please. The Hello Strangers look forward to each performance as an opportunity to meet new friends and garner new fans.
