  • Bio

Spawned from the urge to just to make real music, The Hempolics balances organic and programmed sounds. Formed by Grippa Laybourne,
playing with ideas heavily influenced from the purest roots of reggae, hip-hop , soul and electronica. A contemporary and diverse art of noise with original sounds, songs, and unique vocalists. Grippa explains, “sick of listening to bullshit, empty music, I wanted to create Hempolics, a gang of real musicians, with real sounds and real singers, no ego's..with lyrics full of heart”. That’s why The Hempolics includes artists such as Maxi Jazz, Paulo Nutini and One Eskimo, really anyone that works along with The Hempolics, whose sound and ideas shape a new proposal of music for the times that are just coming. Last but not least, Harry Collier, and Dandelion, the two live front men along with Grippa that make up the strong and confident front line on a stage. Dandelion, being the main vocalist comes from a reggae/roots soundsystem background, and his brother Harry Collier has a refreshing soulful real oldshool jazz style who features on The Hempolics’ first single ‘Place is Here, the Time is Now’, to be released late in 2010. Their first shows will be opening up for the critically acclaimed Faithless, touring 2010.
