Rich with harmonies and rooted in rock, The Hickories offer "warm, inviting songs that [combine] the best of folk and country" -- according to The Washington Post. The Arlington, Virginia-based band forges its signature sound with jangly guitars and lush harmonies, evoking influences like the Byrds, early R.E.M. and the Cranberries.
And people are taking notice: The band has been featured at many festivals and conferences, including NXNE, the National Cherry Blossom Festival and the Millennium Music Conference. They play to packed houses at DC-area venues such as IOTA Club and Cafe, and open for acts with national audiences like Frog Holler, Scott Miller and Emmett Swimming. And the Billboard Worldwide Song Contest has awarded the band six Honorable Mentions since 2003.

Hey The Hickories, how are you? If you got a minute, we pulled over some new things fo you. We have this video up on our page that inspired the song we sing with it. The dance is pretty unreal, and worth seeing. Also, we now have an illustrated novella for sale. It comes with the album if you order it. It's a dark story, but there's some fire in it too. We think you'll like it.
Stop over if you get the chance, and if you like what we give for free, buy a copy of the album and novella. It would help us. Hope you're doing well out there.
hey The Hickories, how are you? We put up new songs for your listening. Come on over when you got some spare minutes. If you feel like supporting this pre-post-apocalyptic music we make, please buy a copy of our album. We are small and poorly distributed, but we have a good album for you. Let these songs out of your computer. Hope you're doing well out there.
