Bands! If you have a show at our venue, please check with us for load in times. Normal load in time for a local show is 5 PM. Please do not be late, as we backline all equipment and need all bands to arrive early to make this happen. If you are late, your set may be shortened or you may not receive payment for the event.
About Us
On August 29th, a devastating storm swept through the city of New Orleans, taking lives, property, and the hearts of many
through its tremendous winds and deluge. Also lost in the storm was a once vibrant all ages scene that revolved around
Cypress Hall in New Orleans largest suburb of Metairie. Now, almost seven months later, the original promoters return with a
newer, better venue, aptly named The High Ground.
Many of you are now all too familiar with the images of invading water, collapsing homes, and ruined lives broadcast over
televisions throughout the world, but you may not be familiar with the aftermath for those of the music community in and
around New Orleans. Those who remained in the city were left without a viable place to attend shows; with no venues, touring
bands marked New Orleans off their schedules.
With the opening of The High Ground, New Orleans all ages scene returns to prominence with a first-rate venue offering quality
sound, dynamic lighting, and a professional atmosphere. Catering to a vast array of music that varies from metal, punk, ska,
rock, emo, and various sub-genres, The High Ground remains open to signed as well as unsigned bands. The venue has also been
a breeding ground for local artists just beginning their careers in the music scene.
Signed bands who have frequented the establishment in the past include: Darkest Hour, The Know How, Dead to Fall, Soilent
Green, Streetlight Manifesto, As Cities Burn, Curl Up and Die, Goatwhore, The Higher, Bedlight for Blue Eyes, Embrace Today,
The Red Death, Cannae, Minus, The Street Dogs, Dr. Chud's X Ward, The Red Chord, Shattered Realm, Ramallah, Diecast, Hoods,
Jacknife, The Banner, The Absence, The Black Dahlia Murder, Premonitions of War, Beyond All Reason, Bloodjinn, Houston Calls,
Adelphi, Buried Inside, Action, The Unseen, Defiance, The Ghouls, and Voodoo Glow Skulls.
Our venue remains dedicated to the massive recovery of Hurricane Katrina. We ask that booking agents and bands add this venue
as a regular stop on their touring schedules; that labels and bands donate CDs, DVDs, posters, shirts, and other items to
those who lost their entire music collection; and music supply companies donate equipment to those who lost their gear in the
flooding and looting.
Great show last night bros. Y'all did excellent. It's sad to see y'all go, hopefully something good happens in the future because there is no place like the high ground. I'm still sore as all hell from the show last night!

I just wanna say I'll miss this place, a lot. So many amazing memories have been made at this here. So stoked for Saturday & Sunday, though. Definitely wish that you guys could stay open, but even though it's closing, I'll definitely remember THG. This past year especially, I could just come here and forget about everything else, and just be at a place that was all about the music. Sundays gonna be amazing/sad, being as its the last show. You're going to have to forcibly make me leave on Sunday, I won't leave until the you make me <3
AMAZING SKA SHOW! seriously ending it on a high note guys. great memorys of everything thanks for all the dedication and snaging some amazing bands(: i'll never forget this place.
Hey guys, sucks that your are closing down. Hopefully some other venues open up for all ages around that area. And if you have time check us out and tell us what you think
Well, I knew that the building is on lease from the owner. It just seemed like Pacifist, working there like that and pretty much controlling things, were in charge and could turn it over to another party if they needed to. But if the building owner is just gonna do something else with the location, then I guess there's not much else to say...
Exactly how difficult would it be for Pacifist to turn the reigns of this venue over to a more capable, financially safe local band? Not to say that Pacifist wasn't... But they are leaving for a while, after all.
If it can be well-booked with genre-exclusive shows and properly funded by the individuals who run & operate it (as well as the people who attend the events), Cypress Hall/The High Ground can be renamed once more and reopened for us all.
Rally up, guys and girls! Support your music, save your scene!
