The Highlight Reel is a relatively new Louisville band forming just under a year ago. The guys are all students at Bellarmine University and networked through the music department to create a group willing to grey the lines between genres. After fronting the Louisville based prog rock band, Grinstead, Jimmy Burns was looking for something new and engaging. After connecting with drummer and fellow Music Technology major, Ryan Fowler, the two decided that they would try to create something together. Guitarist Ian Spence, also a Music Tech major, was added after his previous metal band, Holcomb, parted ways. After months of searching for a bass player, Dave Neill filled the gap and the band was solidified. The Highlight Reel aims to explore all their influences - Dave's indie and experimental passion, Ian's metal background and intricate harmonic approach, Ryan's shameless love of powerpop and jazz training, as well as Jimmy's beard and experience in fronting a band... THR is now finishing writing their full length demo which is set to drop early 2010. Once the ep is out, the band plans to gig relentlessly and tour this summer. Keep checking back to see when THR is coming to a venue near you!
