Fronted by Largo’s own Scotty Clark, The Hillton Brothers offer a brand of Americana music that transforms songs into stories. Musically and lyrically they are meant to be listened to and savored.
Scotty reflects on his own songwriting by saying "you’ve got to live with your eyes wide open and your ears unplugged, to hear the lines and see the stories."
Songwriter Scotty Clark believes that life is like a sculpture. "You have got to use your hands." He is much more at home fixing his Dodge Dart then surfing the web. Born a hundred years too late, Scotty still believes that a honest hard days work is "good for you."
The Hillton Brothers play pure Americana, though Scotty calls it all music, "I can’t for the life of me figure out what all that pigeon hole stuff was about. I love good country, Celtic, acoustic blues, Cajun and gospel; but now some of it falls under the category Americana. So be it." Americana it is and it fits like a glove, from a sweet John Hurt inspired finger picking blues to a hard edge Chicago blues then off to a Nashville stratocaster lead, Scotty and the boys handles it all!
Scotty has performed on multiple occaisons for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and opened shows for Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks, Donna the Buffalo, The Young Dubliners and Ozomatli. Scotty was invited to perform at the Riverhawk Roots Festival with other greats Fred Eaglesmith, The Burn Sisters, Ray Bonneville, The Waybacks and Jim Lauderdale. He has worked in conjunction with the city for festival gigs, played the Weekly Planet Music Splash Series and was show cased at writers night at the Orpheum in Ybor City with other prestigious musicians form the area.
From the conversational volume of entertaining restaurants and small venues to the BIG Country sound they deliver while rocking festivals, The Hillton Brothers provide the soundtrack to wherever they bring the party.
The Hillton Brothers are currently available as a solo act to a four piece band depending on venues needs and are available coast to coast with a proper amount of advance notice.
The Hillton Bros. rip through a great rendition of the classic ’Hey Good Lookin’ Saturday night, March 7th at the Gallery of GreenBenches & More. AKA - Club Less.
