Hip-Popatamus are Dani Fry (Glover, Epicure, Sweet Mona’s Choir, Australian Idol 'My Mum Rocks Winner'), Stella Savy (Los Locos, Insectgirl, Boxing Tostados, Sheep Weather Alert and Sweet Mona’s Choir).
The duo began in 2001 at the festival 'Rock above the Vegie Garden' and began gigging regularly in Ballarat and surrounding areas.
The girl’s popularity grew in 2002 after its inception with the solid funky chunk of Stella’s Guitar and the sweet sounds of Dani’s Melodica, not to mention the kick arse vocals. In fact, vocals so popular that the girls had to put the duo on hold for some years whilst they started their own singing school 'Vocalise', now stabilised and growing strong in Ballarat, Victoria.
Dani and Stella were then joined by Barry Deenick (Bomba), Wayne Parker (Los Locos), Lesley Williams (Diving Bell, Sparks Fly) and for the first time in the 6 years of Hip-Popatamus' existence, the groovy sounds of the girls songs are accompanied by a rhythm section.
The Hip-Popatamus that you once new and loved is still there but way bigger, stronger and funkier!
