'Finally the west Country rises up to throw off the yoke of Northern domination of the music Industry, with 'The Hitchcock Rules' leading the revolution....' Nick Mason – Pink Floyd

“The Hitchcock Rules are without doubt one of the best unsigned bands in the country…” Graham Steel, Windsor Arts Centre

"One of the best bands from the lively and surprising music scene coming out of Cornwall, The Hitchcock Rules were well deserved winners of the Silver Award from the South West Sound Search 2006." Rick Rogers – Dartington Plus

The Hitchcock Rules were born in 2004 in the beautiful and inspirational county of Cornwall. Ryan (Singer/Songwriter), Rich (Drums), Stuart (Bass), and Dan (Guitar) blended their talents and started creating an innovative sound and style.

The Hitchcock Rules latest album “For My Monster” was released in October 2008 on CD and double disc vinyl and is also available to download from itunes. It was recorded at The Saw Mills studios in Golant, near Fowey by Tom Joyce and was mastered by John Cornfield of Supergrass, Muse and Razorlight fame. The 14 track album has been described as the bands greatest achievement to date.

The band have enjoyed touring extensively in their own right, as well as sharing stages and supporting numerous acts such as Starsailor, Graham Coxon, Newton Faulkner, ALO, Kubb, The Webb Sisters, The Beautiful Girls, Seth Lakeman, Fortune Drive, The Monkees, Alabama 3 and many more.

In April 2006 The Hitchcock Rules were featured in ‘Music week’ with their song ‘The 91 Bus’ cover mounting the magazine. As well as appearing in Orange music week and Bristol Fringe magazines. They also came second at the national Pringles unsigned competition in London, gaining critical acclaim from Ian McCullch of Echo and the Bunny Men.

The band appeared on national television when the ‘Rip Curl Board Masters Unleashed Festival’ was broadcast on T4 and E4 from Newquay as well as being featured in the BeachBreaks festival broadcast on BBC 2 this year.

In an interview with the Channel 4 programme Pop World, they were described by Hamish Clark (Breaks Co-op) and Narina Pallet as, “the highlight of the (Rip Curl Board Masters 2006) festival.”

Having received consistent levels of air play on local and national radio stations such as Capital FM, BBC radio and many regional and independent stations and with champions such as Nick Mason (drummer with Pink Floyd) and Tim Smit (the brains behind The Eden Project) The Hitchcock Rules are set for an exciting future.

If you know of a venue we should be playing, are band looking for gig swaps or just fancy a good old natter, then please drop us a line...

Fri 5st June, 9PM - Miss Peapod's
Jubilee Wharf, Penryn, Cornwall

Miss Peapod's Kitchen Cafe is a small independent cafe based at the award winning Jubilee Wharf in Penryn built using pioneering techniques of eco-development. They have wind turbines, solar panels and super insulation. This means their walls are at least 2 foot thick which is useful for when they have bands in the evenings! This one should be quite good.

(will probably be 5 or 6 quid)

Sat 6nd June, 9PM - Teignton Fayre
The Square, Drewsteignton, Devon

Teignton Fayre is an annual event that occurs in the village of Drewsteignton, on the edge of Dartmoor. It is an opportunity for the community to get together, raise money for charity and local good causes, and have some fun! We will be playing at about 9 o'clock on the stage outside. Should be quite good.

Thanks for the add. I look forward to hearing you down at The Watering Hole sometime.

You may like to check out my recently released book - 100 Great Albums. It's a 220 page review of the best music recorded during the period 1965-08 featuring the Beatles,Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Sex Pistols, Joy Division, U2, Nirvana, Radiohead, the Strokes and many more! Also, 500 vital album tracks are spotlighted (split between five categories... pre-1970, the 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000-08).

My aim is to prolong the existence of something close to my heart, something currently under severe threat from the download generation - The Album! With the modern world increasingly more interested in cherry-picking individual tracks, it seems to me a great shame that the sacred long-player is losing its importance. I'm on a mission to save the album before it's too late. All musicians, whether new or old to the scene, can appreciate the importance of that.

If you click on the button below you can access further details about the book (including an option to preview some of the content) before deciding whether you want to buy. All the best Andy.

Support independent publishing: buy this book on Lulu.
