The Hole Gallery Currently:
Uses Only Jewelry Material That Is Certified as Implant Grade by ASTM or FDA.
All jewelry meets standards upheld by The Association of Professional Piercers.
Requires all piercing artist to maintain certification in Adult CPR, First Aid, and Industry Specific Bloodborne Pathogens and Infection Control.
Uses both Freehand and Tool Assisted Procedures.
Pictured below is a piece of externally threaded jewelry. Notice the sharpness of the threads. It is very likely that externally threadded jewelry will tear the tissue upon insertion or removal. Typically the balls are poorly fitted for this jewelry, often leaving gaps between the bar and the post possibly allowing bacteria to harbor. The problem with these poorly made products are they generally are mass produced and sold cheaply. The metals used to produce this jewelry are usually nothing more than the same stainless steal used to create bicycle spokes. This is an example of jewelry that is NOT used or sold at The Hole Gallery
Now this jewelry example is one of a internally threaded piece of jewelry. Notice its smooth rounded design for easy insertion and also the lack of threadding. Jewelry of this design typically is created using only ASTM F-136 implant grade Titanium or ASTM F-138 implant grade Surgical Stainless Steal. Because of this jewelry's mirror finish certain alloys such as nickle and other irritants are often held back away from the piercee's body. you should consider posting pictures of some of the cool jewelry you carry at the shop! i really want to come in for some new 4's for my ears, maybe when some of this snow melts =b. and i'm thinking i want to get my labret pierced again. i've normally been able to just pop the post back in there fairly easily but i think probably won't be able to now.
