BIOGRAPHY:
The west coast on the south bank, a quasi-religious voodoo country-funk force!
The Moon Music Orchestra are a seven-piece who own and run their own pub and possess very much their own (heavy) vibe. Something of an east-end Big Pink, the Gladstone Pub in London is the base from which the band has co-ordinated their military-style campaign over the past eighteen months.
They sound like nothing you've ever heard and it’s hard to pinpoint their influences, but there are hints if you listen hard enough which seem to stretch from early 70’s soul music to tasteful psychedelia, via good ol’ Born In The USA Country and obscure Dutch prog!
After constant badgering from fans at the live shows and 100 gigs later they decided to commit to tape and present to world the ‘Gladstone Cassettes Volume One’
The recordings here focus on the band’s notorious live shows and on songs written as a direct result of all the laughter and tears collectively experienced.
They released the album on their own label and with the help of Rough Trade shops the rest of the world is catching on.
The MMO are currently working on their next album, and playing as many shows as they feasibly can. As always, they are doing so with an un-nerving level of enthusiasm and half an eye on spreading their message of free (ish) love and good times to all who
cross their path.
It’s always a treat if you are lucky enough to catch one of their live shows at their own pub, The Gladstone
You guys are fantastic! I would love to play your music on my radio show, The British Breakfast which airs every Saturday from 9-11AM Eastern Standard Time which is 2-4PM UK time. Can you make that happen?
