"Amanda Anne Platt is easily one of the best songwriters coming out of Western NC these days, and she really needs to be discovered by the national Americana world. Her moving delivery, accompanied by Pete James’ tasteful guitar work and harmonies, make The Honeycutters an act that really should not be missed. We can’t stop playing their CD “Irene” here at WNCW!"
- Martin Anderson, Music Director WNCW
The product of too much black coffee and not enough hugs, the Honeycutters (formerly the Bee's Knees) came together in the Spring of 2007. Since their first live performance at the Westville Pub in May of 07, when the band included only singer/songwriter Amanda Anne Platt and lead guitarist Peter James, they have steadily gained momentum, audience, and band members. Spencer Taylor (Mandolin), Ian Harrod (bass), and Mike Lott (drums) have been added to the mix, fleshing out the live sound and turning Amanda's soulful tunes into great dance numbers. With the release of their first studio album, "Irene", the group has begun to expand their listening area to the greater Southeast. Their original americana, ranging from country ballads to honky-a-billy and blues, is a memorable blend of catchy melody, skillful composition, and honest songwriting.
Hey...so this really cool thing happened to us up here in NH, we were walking in a cemetery (that's how all good stories start) and we met this guy Kevin who was carrying recording equipment and guitars into the chapel. And it turned out that he was testing out the space for a music venue, so he wanted to experiment with the sound in there (which was amazing). Long story short, we got to sing a few for him and here is the footage!
Just hearing you for the first time. On My Mind blew me away, damp eyes, touched my soul, had to listen to the rest of your music, soulful pickin’ and singing. Anyway, thanks for adding me. It’s been over a year since my profile here on MySpace has been active, so stop on by…new tracks up. Ron Armstrong/ Just Around The Bend…Again: “Where Country Meets Blues Meets California Rock”.
thanks guys, really liking your stuff too. Especially the song in the old church. We should play a show sometime. You're a little bit twangier than us but I think it would work, similar muses (same light through a different prism).
Glad 2 see you all are doing well! I love your project and always have. Keep up the great work! I am definitely alive and well in SF. Thanks for the well wishes. Hope to jam with you all again someday! PEACE-fd
