We are The Honey Pies: Jon Marco, Tony Marshall, Tom McCarthy-Jones and Marcus Warnecke. And we hail from the frog-cake/serial killer capital of Australia: (R)Adelaide. Playing around town for a year now, and for years in other bands (Poly and the Statics, Alpen, Billy Bishop Goes to War, Line Honours, Hanson), The Honey Pies are really coming into shape. We've uploaded some demos we've been recording in preparation for an album we'd like to put out in 2010. Have a listen and let us know what you think.
'The Honey Pies deliver on all accounts. Their sound is ecclectic yet infinitely accessible [...] There's 60's pop influences in here, surf guitars, spaghetti western lounge grooves; it takes all manner of frenetic twists and turns and yet still holds itself together brilliantly (more or less).'

'These guys aren't just your typical indie
band. There's something more there.'
Joel Philip, Radio Adelaide
'As a modernist, I appreciate their modernity.'
Tim Rogers, renowned wit
'The Honey Pies have an intriguing schtick all of their own [...]
Somewhere between the sunny, spiky riffage of early Arctic
Monkeys and the technicolour pop of '65/66-era Beatles, the band are a head-shaking salute to the guitar pop bands of the 60's'
Walter, prosepurple.blogspot.com
'"Fool in Love" is one of my favourite tracks of the year,
complete with soaring fuzzed guitar and a vocal that
really tugs at you and lifts you up at the same time'
Pix, whiteboydancefloor.blogspot.com
'"I love these guys even more than I allegedly
love having sex on golf courses'
Mike Rann, Premier
we're doing good man. Walter is fitting into the band like a dream.. he's already come up with a bunch of ideas on guitar, which sound exactly like what I would probably come up with if I was a better guitarist.
honey pies are young and goodlooking. they are hard to take home after a gig because they like to hang out looking seedy. don't let them fool you, be forceful. Love from the A'troit Xxx
Hey Jon and crew.. I have been remiss (that can't be how you spell it?) in not checking out your new songs... it's all sounding fricking awesome! Love 'Sold My Soul' (I don't think I've heard that one before).
hmm somewhat more entertaining. Ok well, if you get big, take us with you. If WE get big, you go bat-shit insane and i'll laugh because you called it. Deal?
Dude, I said it to Tame Impala when they were nobody's and I'll say it to you guys. You're going places and I'm gonna be the first the call it... Take me with you! Ryan
Hey guys, great show tonight. I was the guy who came up and scored a free badge by thinking your falsetto is the best ive heard in Adelaide. Look forward to hearing you in the future!
