The Cold Eighties. Destiny drove a Hong Kong concubine into the arms of a wellhung seaman. Together they built a lovenest in the sky above the Ghent sea of bricks. Their first kitten turned out to be a moustached female, that would live by the name of Sarah Yu. It took two more years before a little male, by the name of Boris, was born. At young age, both of them bundeled their musical strenghts and that's how The Hong Kong Dong was born. A band, brainchild to two unpure types with an enormous urge to form a awesome gang!
In the summer of 2005 The Hong kong Dong took the stage for the very first time. What started as a duo, became a trio. Dave Willockx became the third member and would turn out to be the banging heart of the gang. Ouch!
Together they started terrorising the local clubs with their spiky tunes.
In the Year of the Pig (2007 for the occidentals among us) they conquered various tournaments (they won 'Lawijtstrijd, took second place in the 'Oost-Vlaams Rockconcour' and reached the finale of the 2008 'Humo's Rock Rally').
With the Year of the Rat in sight, a fourth member joined the gang. A real Rat: Geoffrey Burton. Armed with many years of experience in other gangs (Bashung, Arno, PJDS, Stéphane Eicher, Raphael, Polar, Absynth Minded,...) he provided The Hong Kong Dong with new weapons to conquer new stages (they played as support act for Digitalism at the Ancienne Belgique and were invited to open the dance at the Radio Soulwax festival at Flanders Expo).
At the end of the Year of the Pig, Dave left the gang to live a more peaceful life and was replaced by Jimmy Wouters (The hickey Underworld). A bold, fearless gangbanger! Together they continue their search for a fresh rocksound that doesn't trap them in one musical corner!

Les années 80. Durant cette période glaciale une Concubine de Hong Kong tombe fatalement amoureux d'un marin tres bien construit partout! Ensemble ils décident de faire un nis au dessus de la marée de pierre de la ville de Gand. Dans ce nis un premier poussin moustachu, nommé Sarah Yu Zeebroek, est née. Deux ans plus tard un deuxième, nommé Boris, suivera. Tres jeunes les deux poussins décident de coupler leurs forces musicales et c'est ainsi que naquit The Hong Kong Dong! Un duo avec une envie énorme de former une véritable bande!
Durant l'été de 2005 The Hong Kong Dong monta sur scène pour la toute première fois. Ce qui était un duo, devenait rapidement un trio. Dave Willockx, batteur de la bande The Hong Kong Dong! Ouch!
Ensemble ils commencent à terroriser les clubs de Gand avec des sons qui piquent. En cette Année du Cochon (2007 pour les occidentaux) ils conquièrent plusieurs concours. Ils gagnent 'Lawijtstrijd', sont deuxième du 'Oost-Vlaams Rockconcours' et arrivent en finale du 'humo's Rock Rally' (2008).
Avec l'Année du Rat en vue, un quatrième membre rejoint la bande. Un véritable Rat: Geoffrey Burton. Armée jusqu'au dents avec des années d'expérience (Arno, PJDS, Bashung, Cali, Stéphane Eicher, Raphael, Polar, Absynth Minded...)il emmène des nouvelles munitions pour conquérir des nouvelles scènes (entre autres, la première partie de Digitalism à l'Ancienne Belgique, de Operator Please au VK et l'ouverture du festival 'Radio Soulwax' au Flanders Expo).
A la fin de l'année du cochon, Dave Willockx décide de vivre une vie plus tranquille et est remplacé par Jimmy Wouters (The Hickey Underworld). Un batteur impitoyable avec qui ils décident de continuer leurs recherches vers des sons rock au-delà des frontières du rock!

Los van het feit dat Geoffrey op zijn eentje de boel kan platspelen, was het concert gisteren erg goed !
Maar dat Geoffrey Burton de beste gitarist van dit landje is wisten we al, de grote revelatie was Sarah Yu als zangeres ! Geweldig koppel zijn jullie !

Zeer benieuwd :D Ik koop al zeker en vast een cd van jullie, zodra hij uitkomt. De liedjes die nu op jullie myspace staan zijn al zeer goed. ' On a sunny day' vind ik het beste. Ik ben een fan ;) en oh, kom alsjeblieft eens in Lier ( of in omstreken) optreden.
