Jimmy Smith, Charles Earland, Robert Walter, Booker T. and The MG's, Taj Mahal, Soulive, Maceo Parker, John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Rusty Bryant, The Greyboy Allstars, The Meters, Medeski, Martin and Wood, Joe Pass, Boogaloo Joe Jones, Grant Green, Melvin Sparks, beautiful women, and most other things that have swing and are groovy.
The Hub Kings’ sound is a vibe-a-delic tapestry ranging in influences from bebop jazz and swanky lounge to the contemporary sounds of artists like Medeski, Martin, and Wood and The Greyboy Allstars. Taking cues from keyboard masters such as Jimmy Smith and Charles Earland, the Hub Kings generate a sound centered around the lush, smokey tone of the Hammond organ, as played by multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Tristram. Complimenting and accompanying him are Rob Jones on the semi-hollow body guitar and "Bongo" Dave Smela on drums. The Hub Kings are always prepared to add color and texture to your favorite venue or private affair.
