The Beatles meets Flight of the Concords with a twist of Simon and Garfunkel
Jeff Bryant and Zach Stevenson: together they comprise folk/pop duo The Human Statues The Human Statues. Originally from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, these young men are on a mission to spread “jubilation” across the nation. Whether it's playing high-energy band shows at festivals such as the Ottawa Blues Fest, or intimate acoustic performances in theatres across the country, Jeff and Zach are committed to connecting with people through humour, authenticity and a love of music and live performance. Often described as a cross-breed between the Flight of the Conchords and Simon and Garfunkel, Jeff and Zach blend an energetic pop sensibility with lyrical depth and love of vocal harmony.
"Gorgeously bright, jubilant pop"
- ECHO Weekly
"The first time I heard the cd, I was drawn in right away. The Human Statues provide a fun ride through some amazing songs. The only thing better is seeing them live!"
- Steve Darling, Global TV Vancouver
“It's super melodic, well played, smartly arranged and most importantly the harmonies are great.”
- Paul Myers, Author (Barenaked Ladies Biography)
"These guys definitely have the whole package of songs, personality and pizzazz. The world will be hearing about them, big time!"
- David Bash, Shindig Magazine (London, UK)
"Consistently win over audiences, whether they are prepared for it or not"
- Jason Schnieder, The Kitchener/Waterloo Record
"Catchy melodies, rich vocal harmonies and clever lyrics"
- Jennifer Miller, Whistler Question
“Jeff Bryant and Zachary Stevenson play off each other brilliantly”
- Patrick Blennerhassett, Victoria News Group
“Simon and Garfunkel's hooks and harmonies with the whimsy of Flight of the Conchords. Could they be Canada's next Barenaked Ladies?”
Alas, I'm not in Kelowna, but my friend Baz is and she's all lined to be there at the concert. I'd love to say I talked her into it, but she was already way down that path. I told her to say Hi. I'm in Seattle by the way, so I'll get a look at your tour schedule and look for something near there. Maybe Vancouver or something. Have a great time at the Streaming Cafe. If I'm able (meaning not working), I'll catch the concert online!! Cheers.
Hey fellas. I finally got to catch your set down at the Busker Fest on Saturday night. It was a rockin' performance and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Cheers.
Alex
p.s. Zach, I'm the guy who yelled out at you on Gerrard St. I'm that cool.
Hey! yeah, it was awesome to see you guys at Bluesfest, i was so pleasantly surprised. I was backstage at one point with you guys, doing my survey work, so now that I've heard your music I can go around and tell people that! hahaha I definitely live in Ottawa, so i'll be there at your next show!
Last night I had the pleasure of meeting Zachary and Jeff at Stage West Calgary and was able to purchase a CD chock full o' Jubilation. Thanks for the add and thanks for a wonderful show last night.
