"...the hundred Inevitables hide their predictions & go to bars & drink & get drunk in their very special conscious way..." - Bob Dylan, 1965
Although the idea was born on tour in the USA and first mentioned on a bus in Germany, The Hundred Inevitables are really the product of the relatively unknown Dallas music and recording scene.
Toby Pipes is half of The Hundred Inevitables' songwriting team and fronts the band as lead singer and piano player. He works as a record producer and engineer at Bass Propulsion Laboratories (BPL) - the downtown Dallas studio that he co-owns with his brother Todd. Toby toured the world in the 1990s as a guitarist for the pop-rock band Deep Blue Something, and that's when he first began hanging out with guitarist and singer Jeff Whittington.
Whittington, who handles the other half of the Hundred's songwriting duties, began his music career as the singer and guitarist for Denton, TX band Adam's Farm which supported Deep Blue Something on several national tours in the mid '90s. He'd often join Deep Blue onstage for their encores which included the Beatles tune "Dear Prudence" - with Toby on lead vocal. An idea quickly followed and Jeff and Toby discussed forming a new band. A couple of years later - The Hundred Inevitables finally came together.
The band released an early CD in 2000 called "Studder," but their most promising work to date has been with producer and engineer Stuart Sikes. Sikes, who's worked at the famous Easley Studio in Memphis, has recorded projects by The White Stripes, The Walkmen, Modest Mouse and The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. He mixed the Jack White-produced, Grammy Award-winning Loretta Lynn album "Van Lear Rose". Stuart recorded, mixed and co-produced the forthcoming CD by The Hundred Inevitables beginning in summer 2003.
Taylor Young, who joined as the band's full-time drummer for the recent recording sessions, has toured extensively in the UK, Europe and Australia with P.W. Long, Polyphonic Spree, and Young Heart Attack. When he's not touring, working as a Dallas session drummer or hanging with R&B singer, drummer and legendary band leader Buddy Miles, Taylor somehow survives on one-dollar margaritas, chips and salsa.
Nolan Thies plays bass guitar and is the newest member of the group. He works as a recording engineer and session musician at BPL and other studios in and around Dallas.
Thank you very much...we try to check on everyones interest's or the sounds they enjoy,..We like what you had going on your page...and figured we would take the chance, you would like what we enjoy the most...and thats make music...but for the most part... now that we got that horrible and cheesy statement out of the way....this looks like another typical, but somewhat long band comment... But heck at least its a comment... Right?
This has been a great first year for us here at Sunfire Studios. We just posted 5 new songs for your enjoyment. If you like any of the songs, then hit up the bands that made them. They're all working musicians, so undoubtedly they're all looking for people to play shows with. Thanks to everyone who helped us out this year. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years,
Much enjoyed your show last night at Sons of Hermann. [And that show-closing cover of "Every Picture Tells A Story" was a nice bonus. You more than do it justice.]
To celebrate my recent partnership with Dosher Music and help promote our excellent repair services, we are giving away free setups thru the end of November. Just print out the coupon and bring it in with your guitar. One per customer please. I am the former head repair tech with Jackson Guitars when they were located in Ft. Worth Tx. At the time they were purchased by Fender and moved to AZ and CA, I was reponsible for repairing and setting up guitars for their artist catalog. I have worked on guitars for Dave Mustaine ( Megadeath), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Steely Dan, Jim Root (Slipknot) and many others. In addition I learned alot along the way about how to best set up all types of shread guitars as well as what detuned and dropped requires. I am considered one of the best at setting up floyds (yes, 7 strings also) and since I also jam as well, understand what you are looking for in playability. If you play in drop C you understand how hard it is to find a tech who knows what that requires for best balance of playability and proper intonation. Also want to remind all you rockers out there that Reid also rocks! I love working on Fenders and Gibsons and will give your beast of burden the treatment is deserves! Hope you will take advantage of this offer to learn more about what we can do for you, the professional musician!
I just uploaded 3 new songs, just mixed last week at BPL. I would greatly appreciate your feedback on them so PLEASE check them out and if you don't like them, lie to me in my comments section. The CD should be available in March on itunes.
