About THE HUNGRY I (free download@www.thehungryi.co.uk)
!-END Block to Place Custom Banner top of navigationBar -!

The Hungry i is predominantly the work of one man army jon Stolber. The dark-hued electronic post-rock of The Hungry I first achieved serious critical acclaim in early 2005 with the expansive & eclectic solo debut, 'The Car EP' which received widespread critical appraisal for its moody kinetic slice of DJ Shadow on Xanex dub-hop.

Having built up a solid live reputation with shows in 2006 alongside the likes of James Yuill, The Guillemots & 65 Days of Static - Stolber followed up the ep release with the bleak 5 minute post rock-opera ‘Birthday.’ The download received unanimous support from the British press, with Drowned in sound comparing the ‘I’ to the works of Radiohead & Boards of Canada. UK and International Radioplay soon helped the ‘I’ reach a broader audience and at the end of 2006 for the second year running the BBC weekender nominated the hungry I for solo artist of the year.

2008 has opened with the release of the download only single "beginning is the end." Featuring Rupert Boddington (Black Ramps), Sebastian Domin & Eric Heath (El Heath), the new material sees Stolber move away from previous Laptop production to the more luscious layered textures of the studio. With favourable comparisons to Explosions in the sky & Mogwai, Stolber is currently in the studio completing work on "The Hurt Kingdom" due for release at the end of the year with an exclusive myspace stream available of the newly recorded studio version of Birthday due this Autumn.

cheers man. Your music is awesome by the way...I see pictures when I listen to you music...basicly, I'd love to make a video to your music, it would be free...all I need is your consent and a fully mixed version of the track...you might have questions...about copyright and stuff...send me an e-mail, we can talk.

Hey there, I've been working obscene ammounts and only just got back into music mode, hopefully have my new album "Pattern" done sometime soon. Feels wrong not finishing something for a bit, been about 1/2 a year really since I've finished anything recent (Winter Soundtrack was completed but it was quite old)

Indeed we should, I might be down in the next few weeks, near Reading as my granddad is not well.

On my holidays now, going to work as little as I can this month!

Can't wait to hear :-)

Heylo Jon, i'm doing quite alright thank you very much, i've been working on a few different songs recently (now I've got some more time on my hands).

I just need to get a drummer in to record on a few tracks, and then I should have an e.p finished that I want to release for free before the summer's finished.

I hope your recording's coming along well, your tour sounds very promising, I hope to catch a gig!
