It's official, voting for The Crystal Method's Come Back Clean remix contest has begun! As of right now, we're in 8th place, but voting doesn't end until 9/28/09 at 5:00 PM EDT.
We'd really appreciate it if you'd head on over to http://www.indabamusic.com/submissions/show/9249, give our mix a listen, and if you dig it, click the vote button. We'd also be super grateful if you'd spread the word and get other folks to vote for us as well!
Thanks, and wish us luck!
Yes, I'll probably post a reminder or two between now and the end of the contest, but I promise not to get too spammy about it.
head on over to archive.org and download your free copy of our newest release, Music For QuackerCon. file under ambient.
also, check out our new website and our cafepress store.
so i've gone ahead and made some tracks available for online purchase. i'm really in this more to make music that i'd like to hear than to make money, but it'll be an interesting experiment to see if people are willing to actually pay for this stuff. the store *should* appear just below the myspace music player.
about the tracks on this site
blanket fort dance party and looking forward to dreams come from our fourth release, "playtime". blanket fort dance party is just that... a playful romp through a blanket fort with discoteque lighting. looking forward to dreams is a more mellow track intended to bring forth images of daydreams and thoughts of what the night's sleep might bring.
peerless (extended dance remix) was created at the request of the bittersweet way. i took a beautifully sparse pop song, put my own twist on it, then took it somewhere it really shouldn't have gone. i think it's damn near perfect. listen to the original on their myspace page (link above). thanks to the bittersweet way for permission to post the track here.
why do you always cry? (no more tears remix) is originally by this emo band called onion taint. as a general rule, i don't listen to much "emo" stuff, but i really dug this tune for some reason. i attempted to do a cover of it, but decided it wasn't worth imposing on the public. so i took some of the elements of the cover that i liked and created a remix. no, i won't send you my original cover, no matter now nicely you ask. yes, it's really that bad. thanks to onion taint for permission to post the track here, grudgingly as it might have been granted. *sigh* oh, those emo kids. go send them a friends request. maybe it'll cheer them up.
violet is the final track from "chakra pop". this track makes me very happy. it is in the key of b.
red is the first track from "chakra pop". it is in the key of c.
"chakra pop" is now available for purchase online. look below the myspace music player to see my store. what's your favourite colour?
the hybiscus journals projects for free download:
explorations - my first ventures (at least publicly) into the world of synthpop
the hybiscus journals presents the art of the drone - four tracks of synthesizer drenched goodness, filling nearly an hour. I would have uploaded one of the tracks here, but the file sizes are simply too large for myspace.
seems i've been on a remix kick lately. since they're all derivative works, i'll just post links to the approved sites on which they appear. most recent mixes will be listed first.
tricycle drunk not really a remix, but blame us for the rhodes & "guitar"
i got a little (the hybiscus journals mix) original by ctodd
intergalactic dance party (the hybiscus journals mix), original by Mik
winter never really comes to tucson (remix of zefrank's<> fun winter.)
so yeah, that's pretty much it, i guess. i hope you like it.
