Some are given scholarships, others are paid for by a benefactor, others work for room and board, others provide art, etc. If you wish to come here or to sponsor an artist, contact us directly by email. OUR LOCATION: In Avdou, with over twelve properties on the Greek island of mystical and magical Crete. Home of The Lost City of Atlantis (yes, it has been found...). Peace, love and freedom. Minoan Palace of Knossos architect, inventor, visionary, and artist Daedalus, and his son Ikarus, took flight from the cave here over five thousand years ago. They both flew in balance over the village of Avdou that is below the cave of Ikarus as we call it. Mystery, magic, legend. Posi creative flow abounds here.

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDERS: "The way we see it. Everyone comes back and right now all the artists of the past are alive...the Picasso's, the Rembrandts, the Michaelangelo's, the Chopin's, The Shakespeares', the on and on and on...and they don't know it yet. Too much chaos and toxins in the present day and age in the human body and in society in general, and not enough time to devote to the creation and release of the creative juices inside...what amazing art is within so many souls today is unfathomable...and this is why we have set up a place where one can raise his/her energy levels, be surrounded by natural beauty, swim in a magical sea daily, take walks in epic mountains, etc... and connect and harmonize with other powerful, gifted creative souls, and just do nothing but enjoy life and let the art flow out effortlessly...more and more of these Picasso's and Beethoven's are gravitating to The Ikarus and such amazing and inspired art is flowing out of here...do you understand what we are talking about?
If it wasn't for the Medici Family, when and where would have The Renaissance taken place? Would have that art and creativity been released to the world, or not? Some things just take one thing; money and time. ALL artists that are part of The Ikarus are solely on scholarship...this is so that the most powerful creative souls of this day and age, those magical legends of the past, will have no excuse to bring light, their individual light, to this world blinded in darkness. Money and Time will never be an issue again for the select few who choose to flow purely. Art is light, an inspiration of the highest order...it is needed now more than ever before in the history on mankind.
REMEMBER THIS: the worlds greatest and most powerful artists of the past are here now...yes, they are here now living and struggling as other "people" in this world, and many of these "greats" of the past will eventually find their way to Avdou...to The Ikarus to fulfill their potential. Crete is where the Minoans/the citizens of Atlantis, resided for thousands of years (do your research on them) and the birth of art was created along with enlightenment and it later echoed out to the rest of the world when they scattered (the ancient elders) 3500 years ago or so to the faraway places such as Machu Pichu, India, The Basque Country, North & South America, Tibet, Egypt, Bronze Age England, Japan, etc and kept the secrets of life and artistic creativity to the select few. Truth is truth and like a burning sword is cuts to the bones of life in each individual. The time, this time, is upon us. The earth as a whole is at her lowest point in history, and this brings about the highest high also. The world will one day become a brighter place because of the artists that will find their way here and release their ultimate potential in artistic creativity once again. In this day and age, one needs to raise their physical energy and allow the creative flow to be cultivated and nurtured and allow it to manifest and sprout with ease of mind, and with no goal but expression for one's own fulfillment. You need to please yourself first and foremost with your expressions. In our opinion, the highest level of art at this point has not come to be. Not even close. We repeat, NOT EVEN CLOSE. Today's world of art is predominately low energy art forms, toxin-based art form, low vibrational art, dim-lighted art expression; minimal output of one's true potential....yet the full potential is there; if chosen to be harnessed by the individual. Repeat "if".
TAKE SOME TIME TO THINK ABOUT THIS: have you ever had the feeling you were some great artist in some past life? Then maybe you were, but you have to learn the methods (also taught at The Ikarus) to skillfully realize your potential if you have not been able to wherever you are now. There is something great in all beings. Potential greatness in all. There are simply very few Goyas or El Greco's or Mozarts out there right now creating art at that level. This will change. As YOU will. Think about this again and be clear to yourself: have you ever felt you had much more in you than what you have experienced so far? Is your inspiration to create fear or love based? Where does this drive stem from? That's right! Be Living Art Now. Be a light unto yourself."....156

THE IKARUS International Rock Festival is Greece's Biggest Annual Free Music Festival held in the festival grounds of the Traditional Cretan village of Avdou.
Starting at 4pm on Sunday, August 10th, over fifteen bands and acts from the USA, UK, Greece, and from around the globe will be performing, with Acoustic acts and DJ sets in between stage changeovers. At 4pm there is a Pro Skate Demo with the Element Skaters on the mini-ramp.
