The In Beetween started about two and a half years ago as the band Time. The band started off as a two-piece between Bobby Young and Sam Brenkus. Both guitarists learned to play together and their voices grew together to become the pair they are today. Bobby and Sam went through many hardships in this time including the death of their best friend Tim Kidner and the death of Bobby's Aunt Jodee. They always knew to keep on keepin on. They knew that life was too short to deny its hardships and only accept the happier times. Life is all about livin and trying to better yourself and help others in the process.
About thirty songs were written and a couple acoustic shows were played before the two songwriters decided to take it to the next level. They were itching for a band experience. The two have heard the electric guitar scream with the likes of Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Duane Allman, and George Harrison. They wanted to one day harness the greatness of these legendary musicians. Bobby and Sam got together with their first drummer Everett Hunt. In order to capture the band sound and experience the three needed to find a bassist. Bryan Miner came into the picture and joined without hesitation.
Bobby Young and Sam Brenkus were trying to think of a new name to better represent the band. After visiting Tim Kidner's resting place they had an idea. A single Bee had been flying around them and landing on each others legs for periods of time. The Bee later landed on Tim's grave and then stared at the two mourners. The Bee was telling them something. He was saying move on and be the best you can be. I believe in you guys. They had felt that the Bee was Tim talking to them. Especially later when they found out that Bee's were telephones to the afterlife. The bands name had been formed by the their core values on life. Be yourself, strive for greatness and don't put anyone down on the way up. Life wasn't the time that you paid your bills and you were at work. Life is all about fun and the time you have with your friends and family. In Beetween what society forces you to do, is where the real life starts. The In Beetween was finally formed on these values. The band practiced religiously to find their sound as a four piece. It seemed to all come together as the band played many shows and won the battle of the bands at the Cove Nightclub in 2007.
The In Beetween had a show scheduled at the Robin Hood in Kent, Ohio. Only Bobby, Sam, and Bryan made it to that show that day. Everett was off in no-mans land and decided to quit the band as he was pulling into Kent. They were fortunate that a drummer and long time friend Kris Willis was at the show to watch. When the show was over he was all about joining and playing drums for them.
The In Beetween was now at a different stage in their careers. The band put out an eight song cd called Wake Up EP. With much anticipation the cd was a great hit among fans and new faces. The band just wasn't satisfied with the cd's song list. They felt they were better than what had been recorded and that wouldn't become a fact untill later down the road. Many shows later including opening up for Everlast at Peabody's in Cleveland the band had settled down a bit. Kris had moved back to Kent, Ohio for school and the band was in furlough. No shows were being played and Bobby and Sam were starting to write their most emotional and influential songs to date.
Kris had been busy with school and other options were starting to take effect. They had to find a drummer that would be perfect for them. Someone that could relate to them and play what they were feeling. The best friend of all the members was considered to be the next drummer. Alex Williams. In March of 2009 Alex joined the band with much enthusiasm. Alex had never really drummed before. He was a metal guitarist for a local band called Obliterate. He felt and loved the music that The In Beetween was producing. That was all he needed to fit in. A month of practice went by and shows were being booked.
The band had a new sound down with more feeling and emotion than ever. They had finally found what they have been searching for their whole lives. A way to express themselves fully and truthfully and have fun at the same time. Months after Alex had joined the band, they were ready to head to the studio. The studio experience for them was exhilirating. Getting to do whatever they wanted with a studio enviroment and a studio sound was more than they could ask for. They were like kids in a candy shop but with a keg of Labatt Blue to quench their thirst.
<pThe album was named "Don't You Know....". Ask the band about the name and they will be more than happy to explain what it means..
The In Beetween is finally starting to grow in the direction they have always strived for. Full of a diverse amount of inluences including people in their lives and the music that they love. They strive be the greatest band they could possibly Bee.
