The Incredible Hexadecibels are Rewa Wright & Jonathan Bruce. A New Zealand based Audio-Visual duo, they have come together to experiment with new techniques in live multi-media performance. Their collaboration incorporates pre-made and live digital media as well as live Foley effects, creating a unique soundscape at each performance. Samples from the multimedia event “The Terrible Treasures in Doom Castle” can be found at www.incrediblehexadecibels.com.
Rewa Wright [Master of Arts (Film, TV, Media Studies), Master of Literature (Art History)] is a full-time video editor and Avid specialist. Her credits include more than 190 aired magazine style television shows, dozens of documentaries and a number of exhibited pieces of digital art. Her extensive knowledge, training and experience has made her editing talents far in advance of her peers and has gained her many coveted positions in New Zealand moving image circles. Rewa is largely responsible for the video component of the Incredible Hexadecibels work. She is also a dedicated proponent of the Zombie noise vocal style.
Jonathan Bruce [Dipl. Audio Engineering] is a foley / sound effects artist for the “Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers” series and an experienced live electronic musician who has performed internationally at festivals in countries such as America, Canada, England, Australia and New Zealand. He recently won the title of New Zealand Laptop Battle Champion for 2008 and is responsible for the audio and animated components of the Incredible Hexadecibels performances.
Drew Lyon performs as Creassault in "The Terrible Treasures in DOOM Castle, He is the frontman and composer for New Zealand's premiere Industrial Rock group "N.U.T.E". Drew has performed across Europe with N.U.T.E and brings to the trio a ruthless and visceral live vocal technique and unrestrained physical stage presence. He's also dead sexy !

“The Terrible Treasures in Doom Castle”, is a 24 minute audio-visual mind warp combining the 8 bit graphics of 1980’s platform video games, with the razor’s edge physic terror of Zombie horror. It is a DIY homage to chip tunes and b-grade horror, combining sophisticated sound design with backyard acting in a post horror mash-up. This work presents a frightening and original vision of a real life video game environment. Each of its 9 scenes are points of convergence for a cultural collision, more of a train wreck than a mash-up. Loosely following the narrative of a doom-ridden anti-hero on a quest to fight the Evil Doctor Beardo, “The Terrible Treasures in Doom Castle” will stimulate your brains while feeding on them. It is a project that defies conventional categorization as it references a new aural and visual methodology. Please stop reading now and view our work at www.incrediblehexadecibels.com.
Collected visual fragments are brought to convergence in a new narrative form. These fragments are pirated from a number of sources- found and created. They include B-grade Japanese horror, DIY Zombie action, over-saturated 8 bit visuals from platform games, military training and archival war footage, space documentary, and early Svankmajer films. The result is a series of layered, energetic and twisted
visual compositions, designed to warp your mind, rinse out your senses and confuse your emotional cortex. A reference point for
the methodology we used to construct our visuals is the mentally challenging ‘Jawa’ style, pioneered in Canada by Tasman Richardson and the collective famefame. To this cultural blender we added homemade graphics and scripted a backyard action/thriller involving the anti-hero Major Creassault and his quest to save the world from Zombie domination.

PIRATES OF BREAKCORE ISLAND by Tasman RICHARDSON (V-Atak 06) is out
also, is the first web release for our label, and a ISO file to Download to get the DVD on your TV (and in the best quality)
Tasman Richardson striked again with this a/v album composed like a tornado of micro samples.
He cuts film like a surgeon cuts bodies to create new species. This creature is like a starving beast, fed by the power of mass media images.
Tasman Richardson assembles his work image by image sound by sound generating an apocalyptic ambiance with an extreme accuracy and mastery of rhythm.
This DVD album has been released on the web (you can watch it for free) and as a Video DVD (ISO file) that you can buy for 5 €
Enjoy this release
