A glow of red and dead

It was a sad day in the frowning town,
A cry was heard with absent tears from the liquid down.

An elf, in his madness,
Had done his slowly, quickened run away.
He scored to score and scored to score some more
From the self centered, ego feeding, trollish horde
While all the other elves were drunk and stoned at play.

A younger elf with ears to make him fly,
To fly away and for a minute lose his high.
With flowing hair of red
To counteract the flowing black of dead,
Not knowing “the secret setup” just to die,
“The secret setup” just ahead!

The insecure of security ended everywhere.
His freedom was removed for a moment of his time
With secret, private, dancing, danger deals.
He dealt his own restrictions with his mind.

A darkness came.
All elves had their safest place to go
To seek and find the pleasant of insane.
Surely, with the deepest of their secret ways
No elves, no elves would ever know
The truest nature of their cruelest game,
The cruelest game embarked today.

With the purist innocence of the sheep
A meet was made.
No truth would sing its’ song.
The healthy elves began to weep
As the demon sang along.

The tools of choice were greed and lust.
The sharpened dullness of a proven point was made.
To be proven in the secret, silent shade
Was the bravest must.
All elves must see and hear,
With damage done.
The price you pay is dear!

Simply Monday

It is a “simply Monday” once again,
Low on coffee, no sugar and just a touch of cream.

A wait for Wednesday cheques as they begrudgingly stumble in.
A bit of change, a bag of bottles for the craving pack of smokes,
A first avenue peek as the morning sins begin,
A talk to my equals on the street with the occasional, dirty joke.

I contemplate the scene – the beat.
Reaching out to drunks and old friends on old, familiar dope
But willing to talk to an aging, helping queer
Who has planted his simple seeds of hope
For twenty some odd, fucking years!

I bumped into the skin and bones of James.
Crystal meth was eating at him one again.
He spoke without the knowledge of his name,
Of psyche wards and paperwork and setting up appointments to see if he’s insane.
The problem is he can’t stay still, long enough to sign “any fucking name!”

It is a “simply Monday” once again.
I return to an untidy, tidied house.
I watch the awakenings of my little friend come in.
I clean the kitchen with the quiet and consideration of a mouse.
He delays another taste of the horse that has bitten him,
Covering his head with his sleeping bed while listening to his house,
Fighting and resisting as the predicted day comes in.

A borrowed lighter,
A cough, I know he has begun.
The keys ignite the van. - He’s on his morning run!
No joy - his trudge,
No fucking fun!
I pause to hear him speak.
He doesn’t speak to anyone.
“The famous, silent, shouting whisper of the meek.”

A “simply Monday” once again
The beginnings of another, endless week.
The seed of hope does live within.
Maybe one day he’ll take a tiny peek
And let his friend come in.

To put on the shelf

I feel the pain and joy for you.
I feel the void, the boy for you.
I write these words to get you through,
A book of thoughts from my within
To help you walk your road again.

A book of rhymes
To help you through your troubled times
To read with love and hate,
To ponder life and all its' riddles that you find
And to guard you at the gate.

A book to read for you to find your “you”
To feel your guts and soul,
A book to feed the elf in you,
A book where you can reach with no control.

A gift for you,
No debt along the way,
Some, humble words and thoughts for “self”
To love and hate and play among the elf
With no strings attached to keep you bound
And hold your soul at bay.

Read these words “a bit a day”
Or put them on a shelf
Or simply throw them all away.

They only come from my within
In hopes that you find your way again.
They'll make you laugh and make you cry.
They'll eat you up.
You'll want to die.
They 'll give you hope in your dismay.

The baffled elf will learn to play
And feel within his mind, his soul, his way
Another day.
All fear will go away!
