About me:
Synopsis: THE INSTRUMENT is a narrative feature film about seven students who inherit the instrument-building workshop of their enigmatic mentor, Arthur Zarek, and must undergo a collective rite of passage based on the spiritual components of music. In order to fully claim their inheritance, the students must live together for one month, and learn to participate in these seven diverse musical rituals, each corresponding to a specific "waypoint" found in music and in life: Influx, Outflowing, Consonance, Dissonance, Improvisation, Silence, and Harmony. Throughout their journey, the students rely on the meditative practices taught by Arthur namely, the power of Silence -- and they use this spiritual practice to guide them through the collective rite of passage. But when the rituals take a dark turn, The Instrument becomes a magnifying glass for the fantasies and fears hidden in the human mind. Featuring an eclectic original score ranging from orchestral to electronic music, and all points in between, THE INSTRUMENT stands as a narrative portrait of musical meditation the spiritual power of Sound and of Silence. Featuring a fully original soundtrack, THE INSTRUMENT has played at various film festivals and received positive reviews from Variety and LA Weekly.
