"Oblivion's Candle is a release that points to a band with the potential to make waves in an exclusive scene"
-Zero Tolerance
"
As a music lover listens to Oblivion’s Candle is difficult not to feel certain joy. Joy because the music is there, joy because it is loud, joy because it rocks, and joy because its at times exhilarating."
-Deaf Sparrow
"There is a strange, Utopian, alternate universe where popular music never happened and where everyone lives unpretentious and unaffected lives listening to forward-thinking instrumental rock music. Maybe this is the problem with prog, that people immediately think "wank" and turn it off. Bands like this, with their serene groundbreaking metallic rock and post-hardcore seem forever caught under a low glass ceiling. Which is a shame as all the grit of Machine Head, the cool of Faith No More and the melody of Atreyu is here in a band who don't use voices and have songs that last for 12 mins. -James Gill (Metal Hammer)
" This band is the best band I've heard since I discovered Tool in the 1990s. Really."
-Aaron Turpen (Militant Reviews)
"Boasting tremendous creativity and passion, The Isosceles Project are starting a new metal movement in Toronto, and they’re doing it without words."
-Alex Fortuna (The Varsity)
"Holy crap! What an amazing band!"
-Mike Bax (Fazer Online Music Magazine)
"Not only do they shine a light on heavy music, but they are making it their own, without the help of a frontman."
-Jared Nardi (Blare Magazine)
"In all seriousness, Eric Euler can shred like no other..."
-James OMalley (Shock Mountain)
"One of the best in Toronto."
-The Silent Ballet
" Plainly put, this is an impressive offering"
-Tony Belcher (Tartarean Desire)
"I found their brand of technical metal most enjoyable"
-Scott Jessup (Sea Of Tranquility)
Three musicians, 10-minute songs, no lyrics and one of the best live shows in all of Toronto. You've never seen or heard anything like The Isosceles Project. This is a band that truly believes in genuinely artistic and creative music, and they prove it with their stunning, genre-smashing debut EP, "Oblivion's Candle." Even without a singer, the album reveals concepts and themes that are communicated not through words, but through the ferocious passion and profound depth within each of the four ground-breaking compositions. Though each musician is a technical marvel on their instrument, don't expect any cold pyrotechnics or self-indulgent wankery. Isosceles means two equal sides, and the band is inspired by balance and equality in life and in music, and this concept is demonstrated in their innovative writing style that gives the word "Progressive" new meaning. The soul-crushing riffs and intricate rhythms of Meshuggah, the beautiful extreme-to-mellow dynamics of Opeth and Russian Circles, the tripped out post-metal enormity of Isis, and even the eccentric jazz-funk fusion of the Mars Volta are just a handful of the themes that the band organically constructs into their own sound that simply defies categorization.
