Sounds Like
The creation of the universe... And we're humble too :)
Here's a word from our friends:
“I like the sound, very original” Rob da Bank, Radio 1
“The Jahm band are more than just a ‘jam’ band. There’s more than meets the eye, with a creative process derived from rehearsal on a theme.
They try to free themselves from structure during the creation of their music and it certainly yields interesting results.
As they develop as a band and grow as individual musicians, I expect this band to set the trend for those discovering the threads of the fusion of jazz with other musical forms in this part of the world!” Linley Hamilton, Radio Ulster
“The Jahm Band were the perfect support act for fusion pioneer Billy Cobham.
Their infectious rhythms and unique melodies got the crowd grinning and grooving in equal measure.
Deviating between jazz-fusion, classical indian and straight funk, the Jahm Band convey the kind of innovation and versatility that most bands dream of.
Here's a group of young musicians at the top of their game.” Michael O’Connor, Bare Feet International (Billy Cobham promoters)
The Jahm Band are a collection of musicians who play the kind of music you’ve always wanted to hear…
Based in a studio in the foothills of Knocklade, Ballycastle (a fairly unique place in itself – something to do with the gravity), in the middle of the beautiful Glens of Antrim, The Jahm Band just play great music.
No gimmicks here, boyo.
Originally set up by Will Hawkins and Ciaran Laverty a few years ago, the Jahm Band is now made up of five fantastic musicians from around Northern Ireland.
They play a funk/jazz/rock fusion that explodes from the stage with incredible energy, taking their audience on a journey… and pretty much sucking them up onto the dancefloor :)
It only works because these lads know how to play - they use the energy of the crowd, and each other, to take you on that trip…
Over the years they’ve had loads of talented people join them onstage, and they’ve played everywhere (stages, fields, cliffs, barns, clubs…), recorded lots of strange noises and generally had a brilliant time.
But there’s only so much you can say - you really need to hear them play live…
Keep checking back for gig dates… and we’ll see you there!
