Ah another musician on myspace! I dared to make of my illustrious musical career six or so solo or pseudo-solo albums. Moved to the wonderfully arid state of Arizona in the early 90's, played in The Lemmings and a host of other bands, until I formed my solo band Propeller. Propeller released an album "Twin Engine Telegram". That dissolved until I got the impulse to make another album under my pseudo-name James Miles called "Soul to Keep." That cd was named by Get Out magazine as a top-ten local CD. And now I realize that tequila actually tastes like puke. But that is a story for another time. After that album I had decided maybe I did not want to record any more music, for notions of notoriety seemed downright fantastical, as if you would open your front door in the morning and step out into Narnia. And yet later on I discovered the music of Elliott Smith, an amazing artist, and after his strange and disturbing death, I was inspired to write an album of music somewhat in tribute called "Seven of Swords." That one was mostly well received amongst Smith fans, but the local press derided it as "depressed paralagal music." What did they expect me to do, quit my job and become a busboy for "credibility"? So somehow or other I coasted along in my musical adventures, lending guitar sounds to The Heartgraves and to Lonna Kelley. I caught the 'alt.country' bug, was baptized in Neil Young and Bob Dylan, and then started a band called Wormwood Brothers. Wormwood Brothers put together an album...wherein I poured a year and a half of my soul and money into the next album "Spider Lake." Happily, "Spider Lake" was named a local top-ten cd by Get Out for 2007---not bad for an album steeped in doom, gloom, and melancholy.
