The Janes grew up together in Glasgow, Scotland and got together in the current line up in April 2003.
The Janes are: Ailsy (vocals), Paul (guitars), Rico (drums), Stevie (bass), Scott (guitars)
The band are influenced by artists as diverse as The Silencers, Ryan Adams, Starsailor, U2 and The Jesus and Mary Chain; Their goal is to be ruthlessly honest in their songwriting and along the way to write a hit song or two..
The Janes are now regular fixtures on the Glasgow and London scenes and signed to North American management (Toronto's Visual Planet music) in July 2004 after a successful run in the Sony and Colombia Emergenza event;
The Janes' first single "There is no them only us" was launched at Glasgow's legendary King Tuts Wahwah Hut on 2 April 2005 and at London's Covent Garden Roadhouse on 9 April. Reviews have been plentiful and all positive about the band and their potential.
"Till the morning" is now online and was released at The Classic Grand in Glasgow on 21 October 06.
Next steps? Plans are being finalized for record company showcases in the US in late 07 and the album "throw" is set to be licensed for release in Asia and Australia from December 07.
"Burn all bridges down" is the new single and is online for free download for a limited time. The single will be released on 2 November after a launch night at Glasgow's Classic Grand venue.
Famous fans of The Janes include Bill Clinton who has complimented the band on the There is no them single and William Reid of The Jesus and Mary Chain who pops into Scottish gigs when he is in town.

Hey! How's the weather over there? I just want to let you know that i'm coming to the UK in late May/early June to play bass with Kevin Montgomery and Tommy Allsup. Tommy played guitar with Buddy Holly, and is THE guy that flipped the coin with Ritchie Valens. I figured that with you being a musician that you would really be able to appreciate this show. We play a series of shows in Scotland....St. Andrews, Edinburgh, and Irvine (near Glasgow). I hope you can make one of those. We won't be doing my material, but it is a really special show, and Tommy is a true rock'n'roll legend. Anyway, take care and hope to see you there. DW

My friends at Ministry of Sound have asked me to let you know about their new compilation – Underground 2008. Instead of focusing on chart dance hits, this is a celebration of the edgier sound that has developed over the last year or so, combining elements of house, techno, electro and minimal styles. These are the tracks that have stood out from the crowd to prove the genuine dancefloor destroyers – so you’ve got the likes of Claude Vonstroke, Trevor Loveys & Sinden, Martin Buttrich and ZZT.
