Looks like all the European dates are just about finalized and are listed below; any additions or updates will hit the site and everyone will be in the know. This is our seventh tour and I'm happy to announce that our friend and killer guitar player Peter Nathanson (www.myspace.com/peternathanson) will be joining me and the boys on just about all the dates. Peter is a guitarist in the blues/rock genre and should compliment my sound and fit in to a tee. Peter is originally from Boston Mass. but has been living in Paris for quite a few years. We are also happy to have as our primary booking agent Katerina Bohlova of Witch Music in Paris(www.myspace.com/witchmusic) so life on the road will be even more fun than usual!
A native of Richmond Virginia Janet now divides her time between New York City and Richmond when not touring in Europe or the United States. When not performing Janet usually can be found writing and in the recording studio; her sixth CD “Step inside the Dream” was released early in 2008 to critical acclaim both in America and on the European continent.
Janet honed her guitar skills at an early age when she and her family would follow the sun to the many Bluegrass festivals between Florida and Maine. She learned “The Muleskinner Blues” from Charlie Waller of The Country Gentleman while sitting around the campfire one night.
She soon embraced rock and roll music and the guitar techniques of Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page; a whole new world opened up when she listened to Page’s use of open tunings; Janet’s acoustic sound today is due in large part to her love of open tunings.
The flat picking prowess she possesses today along with her love of rock and roll sets her apart from most acoustic players; the amalgam of the two styles is unique; Janet sounds like no other player; male or female.
Her love of the blues led her to Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters; today Janet is a fiery showman on stage as she sets it ablaze with her black Telecaster stinging out red hot blues licks from her shiny metal slide.
As good as a guitar player as she is she’s equally as strong a vocalist; be it a soulful ballad or a screaming blues rocker; Janet delivers dead on the money. Put all these components together along with a tremendous command of the stage and just the right amount of sex appeal and you have the perfect package… Janet Martin!
As always,keep watching the skies...
