THE JANKS is an up-and-coming band from Southern
California that plays original songs inspired by a
wide variety of musical styles including folk, jazz,
classical, blues, etc. The band is currently working
on material for their 2nd full length independent
record release & is playing numerous live shows in
California.
THE JANKS got their band name from the undeniable
"janky" quality of some of thier childhood friends.
Upon visiting an urban dictionary one can see that the
word 'JANK' has a handful of entries, even including
contrasting definitions.
THE JANKS is composed of 4 friends. It's founding
members Zack Zmed(vocals, guitar, keys, lyrics) Garth
Herberg (guitar, keys, lyrics, orchestral
arrangements) and Jesse Brown (bass, percussion) began
playing together in early 2005. They then
independently recorded the album 'Delicate Mouthfeels'
in Porterville, CA shortly before moving back to LA
County and adding Landon Young (drums) to complete the mix.
