   About Jay Spectre
Past the wasteland of glitter that overloads our collective consciousness lies a band that has chosen to use their gift to inform, discuss and enlighten. Through the amalgamated sound of rap, folk, funk, and rock, Jay Spectre wax poetic on issues/ideas that actually matter while still finding room at the end of the day to party. This five piece, constantly evolving band from Ontario has been moving across the land and taking audiences aback with their unique sound and message. The band began in 2001 as the solo project of front man, James Oliver and quickly morphed into a full fledge band. In 2003 the release of "To The End Of The World And Back" defined the sound that could only be described as "Jay Spectre". Since then James was joined by Guitarist Jon Hembrey (Defined by What We Steal), drummer Jeremy Drury (Sunlit Ambush), bass player Rich Itzkovitch (Auto Groove Mechanics) and percussionist Sean Segal. As the band prepares to release it's follow up EP to the "To The End Of The World And Back" they continue to entertain as they bring their unique sound to clubs, lobby’s and basements any chance they get. Jay Spectre has shared the stage with acts as diverse as Bedouin Soundclash and Greg Macpherson and at every turn they are changing the way people see rap music.

That was a great set at The Silver Dollar. Catchy-funk-soul grooves with a world-music feel. Propulsive rhythms from another galaxy, that was earthbound on this this day. Energetic live show.

That was an excellent set at Rancho Relaxo, crackling funk, soul, and world rhythms, all overseen by a rock sensibility. Energizing and tight as a unit, bursting of global flavors and colors, an absolute treat for those who long for a musical canvas that includes dancing and having a good time. Keep to your musical vision.

Jay Spectre...Respect on the add!!!....As you might or might not already know....a couple of weeks ago CNN did a segment entittled "Hip-Hop: Art or Poison?.....This segment was very baise and ignorant toward Hip-Hop.....Public Enemy founder and Hip-Hop Legend Chuck D was a big part of this segement....We at RAPproject.TV felt that Chuck's view point was not fully represented during the CNN segment....So we tracked down Chuck to give us an exclusive, one on one sit-down interview on the issue........During which we flipped the question.......is CNN art or poison?.........Chuck gives a great, insightfull interview that is a must watch for any pop culture, hip-hop, or Public Enemy fan.....Check out the exclusive Chuck D interview today....Leave a comment to join in on the discussion, and let Chuck know how you feel about his viewpoints:

Hey Guys.

Just want to send a quick note to let you know how great you sounded on Trent Radio today.

The first song you did live, which I believe you said was from your upcoming CD, was outstanding.

Looking forward to hearing you at the Horseshoe Tavern next Thursday. But hey, no pressure………………………….
