The J Band, a revolution of rhythm and melody, is stirring souls and setting feet to dancing throughout all corners of the world. Building on two albums and hundreds of unforgettable live shows, The J Band has gained a loyal following and a recognizable and infectious sound.
The band is led by frontman and songwriter Jordan Lindsey, whose musical roots began in the church and later exanded to include the sounds he heard in the Carribbean and other parts of the world. In Davis, California Lindsey crossed paths with guitar prodigy Amit Katzir. "It was like we had been playing together for years. Amit was the skilled master and I was just a raw storm and together the music took life. It still amazes me."
As the crowds grew so did the men on stage. First came Alan Lightner, the world famous drummer/percussionist/steel drummer/singer with infectious passion. Next was the entertaining Greg Magnuson, who sailed right in with bass and harmonies and a force on stage. Then there was the genius of d.j. Paul Ryan, who lifted everything to a wild rhythm and constant dance.
"People would hear acoustic guitars with a dance beat and steel drums and they would be baffled" says Lindsey, "but they'd soon be dancing. Then the next time we would see them they’d be singing the songs back to us and dancing with us and it soon became so much more than a crowd and a band... it’s a communion. It’s explosive."
After the success of their debut album, “The Africas and Ithacas”, released in 2003, The J Band released their ambitious "Wayward" in 2006.

After last night, I think Johnny May, Jr., deserves to leap above me for the coveted 'Number Two Friend' spot. Great job last night, mang, right up there with your best shows.
