The James Cleaver Quintet met when Jack presented Maud with his award for Mobile Butcher of the Year. Maud said of meeting Jack, "This fella gave me this award, what was long overdue in my opinion, and then we was talking and that, and he said join my band, and I said no. Then he said, why not, and I said I dunno, then he asked me again and I said, alright." The James Cleaver Quintet have gone on to be an award-winning band, who refuse to let anyone know exactly where they are situated at any one time because as they put it, "We don't want anyone coming up to our van and mucking around with it because it's just been fixed and it cost us a fucking fortune to do it... well not a fortune but quite a lot of money... well not that much because we knew the geezer who did it for us and he did us a favour, but he's done a rubbish job, but we never trusted him anyway so it's not a big surprise that it's fucked again".
