9 Songs. 7 Minutes. Goregrind! - 81% Written by nightfalls on July 5th, 2007
In context, the none-more-sudden cover of Napalm Death's grind classic, "You Suffer" couldn't have been better placed. Forcing its blood-splattered contents down your throat in less time that other, more cumbersome bands take to get to the first decent riff, Neo-Natal Death's Hellfest demo perfectly embodies the take-no-prisoners approach of one man recording guitar, bass, drum programming and a scatter-happy collection of samples onto his laptop.
The cringe-worthily brilliant titles ("Eat.Fuck.Kill.", "Abortion Of Chips" and "Devouring the Dissected" being some of my personal favourites) combined with the samples that begin almost every track only add to the overall OTT experience, with the only major negative point of the cd being the poor production, or rather, complete lack of. While it could be argued that this rawness is a crucial part of the genre, I personally feel that if these songs were given just slightly more room to breathe they would be all the better for it. Still, not at all bad for one man and a laptop!
