The Jib Coffee House and Wine Bar Having a cup of coffee
The Jib is a funky groovy coffee house and wine bar on the Sparks Marina in Nevada. Overlooking the quaint lake with an amazing view of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, our mission is simple, create an experience thats relaxing, cozy, gratifying and unforgettable.
Our coffee is the best I've ever tasted. We deal strictly in Fairly Traded, Shade Grown and Organically grown coffee. For those of you who aren't coffee geeks, I'll break down those elements. Coffee is the second most traded commodity on the planet, just behind oil, and coffee farmers are among the poorest farmers in the world. The low education levels in areas of the world that grow coffee lead to exploitation of farmers, with many of them unable to simply maintain their lives with what they make growing coffee. Fair Trade is a non-profit organization that changes that. Fair Trade provides an above market price for the farmers for their coffees, and that extra money is invested in health care, education, and community support for the farmers. In addition, Fair Trade buyers get the first pick of all the coffee , so we're assured of getting the highest quality possible.
Organically grown coffee is much like other organically grown foods in the world, only the need is more dire. The harsh chemical pesticides used in growing coffee are highly carcinogenic, leading to extreme cancer rates in many of the coffee growing communities. Organically grown coffee uses no chemical pesticides, thereby putting a healthier coffee in your mug.
Shade grown coffee is also good for the planet. Coffee naturally grows under the canopy of trees that provide a whole ecosystem in which many animals thrive. The clearcutting of fields to grow more coffee has the consequence of destroying the habitat of many birds and small mammals. Shade grown coffee is grown in its natural habitat, without disturbing the natural ecosystem of birds and animals that populate the area.
Now... Onto the fun stuff! WINE! Our wine list is constantly changing, there are always about 30 wines by the glass, and the menu changes weekly. The View doesnt. The lake is awesome in the winter or the summer. Best use of a gravel quarry I've ever heard of.
Also you can sign-up as a new TB community member or check our "pedias" for wines, cigars, recipes, cocktails, etc. If you are a chef, feel free to send us your video cooking show and we will promote you worldwide!!
