Many have compared Jimmy's vocals and musical stylings to the likes of Luther Vandross, James Ingram, Lionel Richie, Al Jarreau and Ron Isley to name a few but, there's always been that detectable Jimmy ROLAND! sound.
He's a singer extraordinaire. He knows just when and how to make you feel the joy, happiness, pain and all other emotions that he may be feeling, when he delivers a song. He was born in the small town of Taylor, Texas on September 14th. Raised by his grandparents during his first thirteen years of life, this Virgo now makes his home in sunny southern California. He often enjoys the beach or long walks in the mountains. Although his musical influences as a child were planted in Gospel soil, this R&B/Pop artist enjoys performing everything from Rock to Disco-House. His music switches from tear-jerking ballads to floor-quaking bass filled Dance tunes. Ladies and gentlemen, meet...Jimmy ROLAND!
Although Jimmy Roland has shared main-stage billing with heavy-hitters such as Sheena Easton, Patti LaBelle and The Village People to name a few, in addition to being a stage performer, Jimmy has many other credits. These include songwriter, vocal arranger, actor and writer. In 2002, he was offered and accepted a five-year publishing contract with a division of Warner-Chappel Music. In 2007, Jimmy penned the lyrics to a tune that reached Number 1 on a popular Sirius Satellite Radio station's Top 20 Charts. A few months earlier, another of Jimmy's compositions “My Jamaica", peaked at Number 22 on Dance charts across the US. He is thankful to a producer from France for collaborating on Jamaica with him. Less than two years later (January '09), Jimmy collaborated with several producers in Italy. The threesome came up with another Dance Electro-House hit entitled "Got To Be Real". "Real" reached the Number 1 position on the popular Internet Dance radio station, iDanceRadio.fm's Top 175 Songs Charts. September 2009, brought with it the video of "Real", making its broadcast premier on the popular MTV LOGO channel's NewNowNext Pop Lab series, along with videos of artists Madonna and R. Kelly. As of mid-November ’09, “Got To Be Real” had remained on the CMC-TV (California Music Channel’s) play-list for ten consecutive weeks. CMC is viewed and heard world wide on the Internet as well as on cable television in the San Francisco Bay area, on Channels 26 and 28.
In July 2009, Jimmy celebrated twenty-five years as a professional entertainer. He has worked with producers from all over the world, which is why his name is becoming internationally recognizable. Jimmy is currently preparing to enter the studios soon to make new music. He will be collaborating once again with the Italian team of Dr. Kmer and Castaman Joy (the producers of "Got To Be Real”). 2010 is the year that Jimmy ROLAND is looking for to for the release of his now finished autobiography, “The Way It Was, The Way It Is”. He is already speaking with a specific publishing company. He is looking forward to possibly singing our National Anthem at a popular major league baseball team’s game in '10, as well.
In closing, we must say that if you've never experienced Jimmy ROLAND "live", it is a MUST that you do so. He gives his all on stage and it is apparent to everyone that he enjoys including the audience in on the fun. A class act indeed!
