    Denver Does Denver 8.5 x 11

    On June sixth, over twenty Denver musical acts swap songs at the all night auditory orgy called Denver Does Denver. Played on three stages between Bar Bar and Old Curtis St (2100 Curtis st.), these two neighboring venues serve as the sets for promiscuity in sound. Each band abandons their original material to play a set covering another Denver band. The expansive lineup includes a wide assortment of Denver's most adventurous artists, from singer songwriters to electronic composers, hip hop crews to blues crooners, improvisational avante gardists to old time country troupes.  Witness a massive intersection of local on local sound at Denver Does Denver.

    Leo said something positively cute when he was going to bed the other night. He says, "You remember Joaquins house? I like going there now. I can't wait to go again. I get to hide under the table and joaquin yells really loud. He's always asking everybody where i am. He's so funny. He can't find me. HE THINKS I DISSAPEAR!"

    In a variety of incarnations, musical provocateur Yuzo Nieto has not so quietly been pushing the boundaries of Denver's musical and poetic communities. With a background in written and oral poetry, theater, and opera, Nieto understands the importance of range and versatility in performance. Immersed in both technical and experimental musicianship. In his latest endeavor, Hand That Rocks the Dreidel, Nieto once again assumes the lead, this time showcasing his unique songwriting talents, blending country, pop and Latin melodies with poetic and often radically charged verse.


    What was originally planned as Nieto's full length solo album debut evolved into a collaboration with a number of friends and local musicians including Doo Crowder of Pee Pee, Handsome Bobby Louis III, well as many others. Now backed by a supporting band that includes Avi Sherbill and Danny Shyman of Josephine & the Mousepeople on percussion, vocals, keyboard, and guitar; Neil McCormick and Jon Olson from Pink Hawks on upright bass and percussion. With the coming out of his debut album titled Building Up while Falling Down, Yuzo Nieto & the Hand That Rocks the Dreidel will spin heads.
