"Nature rejoices in Nature, and Nature contains
Nature"
Turba
Philosophorum
The
Joy of Nature is a multimedia project, with music as its main focus.
It
was created in 1999 as "The Joy of Nature and Discipline", and
reduced to "The Joy of Nature" in 2006, following a change in
its sound - more organic and acoustic.
Musically,
"The Joy of Nature" is like a serpent always renewing itself
- never resting in one shape, changing the form but keeping the same essence.

Reviews excerpts:
«However, even though THE JOY OF NATURE travels more and more towards a folk sound, this album still fills the purpose of a dark ambient release; its evocative, echoing, atmospheric sound and murmuring vocals is not seldom very hypnotic and time from time, you’ll find yourself wrapped up in another state of mind, or in another world, than you expected.
The music is very varying, which saves the longer tracks from being dull and gives you plenty of different styles to explore. Much of it is though very influenced by the traditional folk music from Portugal and the Azores. Sometimes, if I should make a comparison to another band that might appeal to you, it sounds almost like a more experimental, more mystical SANGRE CAVALLUM while some of the ”classic” THE JOY OF NATURE sound shines through pretty often as well. .» - from The Shadows Commence

Reviews excerpts:
«The Joy Of Nature work broadly in the same area of esoteric folk as In Gowan Ring, inspired by the earth, myth, belief and the transformative potential of music. Their music is rooted in folk song and incorporates psychedelia, experimentalism, field recordings, drones and instrumental composition. There is a sense of awe and devotion in the music, that contemplates the beauty of our environment gradually being corrupted. There is great love for music here though which shines through and is often moving in the songs and childlike wonder of the melodies. The album represents a journey across their music and the evolution of its form. They are though highly talented musicians, able to convey the fragile perfection of our world. Without ever becoming too dark, obscure or formless, their music instead is carefully composed and structured. You might hear Harold Budd in addition to Current93, Tor Lundvall as well as Orchis. .» - from Woven Wheat Whispers

The Joy of Nature - "The Shepherd's Tea at 7"

Reviews
excerpts:
«The
two tracks on this single are both instrumental, but very rich in instrumentation
and variation. Luís plays guitar, flute, psaltery, bells, percussion,
and more, weaving different melodies through out these short songs. The
music is not very easy to describe or pigeonhole, but it is safe to say
that it is mainly acoustic, and that it evokes a mystical, dreamy atmosphere.»

«One
can wonder at the quiet and the powerful magic of being surrounded by
the ocean and it's effects on this fine piece of instrumental work which
this time finds Luis working alone» - from Heathen
