About thejpowersband 602.291.7752
Leader - Joann Powers - formerly from Detroit Michigan - was brought up in the home of Motown and sweet soul music. Starting her singing career at a very early age, she knew she wanted to be an entertainer. Lead vocalist for several well known bands (Kamage, Take Five, and Starlight), in the Detroit area and surrounding suburbs. Moved to Arizona in 1985, worked with a couple of local bands then decided to take a short hiatus from the music scene - in 2001 started her own band and has been working ever since with some of the best cats in town.
Gigs at Char's Has The Blues, Stingers, Hoopers, O'Briens, My Ole Man's, Skippers, Jersey Tavern, Lake Pleasant Marina, Hammerhead Jacks, Satisfied Frog, AmVets, Skye Restaurant and Bird Cage in Prescott AZ. ...always keeping an eye open for other popular clubs in 2008. If you know of a club you think we would be perfect for please contact me - thanks Joann
The J Powers Band mixes, Blues, R&B, Soul, Motown and Classic Rock to the scene, with great harmonies, entertaining melodies and high energy.
Working closely to keep the music sweet is Rick Henry, a seasoned guitarist catch his tasteful solos and mellow blues renditions. Michael Black, - the funkmaster, thumping and jumping bass man - in addition to his bass he adds lead and harmony vocals. Mike Mattingly - a super drummer that keeps the groove and solid beat (has a rehearsal business/studio right here in Phx - called Perfect Timing). Tom Powers, keyboard extraordinaire, lead vocals, harmony and the groups musical director, songwriter and an all around phenomenal musician - led the Tom Powers Group back in Michigan. Member of ASCAP signed by Clive Davis then with Arista records and Tom also had a record out with Big Tree Records.
So, now you have it - the valley's best kept secret is out! Come on out and groove to their solid soul sound. To book the J Powers Band please email me at joannmpowers@cox.net - Thank you!

I never asked for anything from my network of artists and friends. I'm not selling any CD's or asking you to come to my concerts, or making you click on a stupid link to nowhere.... Please do me 1 favor>>Vote for my Dad's song as the official song for the city of St. Petersburg Florida "Carry Me Back" http://www.stpete.org/song/song_form.cfm. He is a legendary bass player performer, and has earned his dues with the 60's The Tropics, 70's Tom Petty, 80's Fortress, 90's many many others, and now touring (or should I say "groovin" on a Sunday afternoon) with other legends like himself in the New Rascals. give a listen, and vote for my Pops. It's song choice A, Charlie Souza & the New Tropics. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND COME ON DOWN TO ST. PETERSBURG TO SAY HELLO! Help me help out my Pops, my fellow artists. It really is the best song of the 3 choices. Come on, songwriters, what do you think? http://www.stpete.org/song/song_form.cfm
Hope all is well,
geezer
