Chichino

Contagious, addictive, infectious, exuberant, gloriously upbeat, funky and totally unconventional, Chichino have mass appeal and bags of personality.

The Leeds based band create and present their intelligently crafted, pulsating fusion of pop and funk with an enthusiasm which is calculated to push your get-up-and-dance button.

'Everybody’s doing it' I’m informed with a wicked grin.....'Doing what exactly?' I answer rather nervously, which is met with peals of laughter from the fabulously sassy lead vocalist Narelle, who stylishly puts the ‘chic’ into Chichino. The band kick into 2 bars of what will be their jaunty teaser single from the debut album and leave you in absolutely no doubt they are firmly back on the music radar.

Not frightened of exploring new challenges, changes of direction and line-up, their refreshing sound echo’s some of their musical influences: - Jamiroquai, Donna Summer, Prince and Stevie Wonder to name but a few. All of this translates into an effortlessly cool Chichino sound.

Narelle shifts from super sultry to dance floor diva without missing a beat, delivering astonishing vocals and always looking like she is simply having the best time ever.

The debut album is a pure gem of blended musical talent and sheer enjoyment of performing, which is skilfully woven into each track.

It’s no surprise to hear that the band have performed gigs at designer Karen Millen’s house (precariously balanced above the swimming pool), supported soul singer Mica Paris and have been billed alongside the likes of The Feeling, Sugababes, Bass Hunter and Tony Hadley. They have recently completed collaboration with a Right Said Fred – reworking “Don’t Talk Just Kiss” with the boys just for fun.

Whilst the UK is now catching on to the Chichino sound, Australia and the USA are showing interest also, with a previous single gaining airplay on Triple M FM and Triple J in Australia and stations from Miami, Pittsburgh and Los Angeles picking up the track Stateside.

With a fast growing live reputation, Chichino remains one of the most exciting new acts on the circuit at the moment. Note to self:- do not miss seeing Chichino play live – it is pure, unadulterated entertainment!

Joe Ward

Joe Ward already has an enviable list of performance successes behind him including at 6 years old, an appearance as Paul McCartney on Denise Van Outen & Johnny Vaughn's Big Breakfast, singing the Beatles hit Yesterday!

At 8, he played Joseph for 3 nights in Joseph & His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. And at 9, he was awarded the Boundary Oak prize for Vocal performance. 'My parents house revolved around music. We had a Pro studio there,' he says, 'instruments and artists in and out all the time, many chart stars, part of my life from year dot,' Joe recalls.

Today, at just 17, his now well broken voice has graced two No 1 albums and provided backing vocals on several chart singles. 'My upbringing and the chances I had to perform showed me what was possible in this business,' he says, 'it taught me that success doesn't just happen, you have to go out and earn it.'
