From deep within the depths of the liner notes of the Kahuna Cowboys' new CD:
Well, the Kahuna Cowboys are back at you with another generous helping of their down home tunes. We've been hard at it, performing our musical "gumbo" for a wide variety of audiences, young and old alike; broadcasting from fancy auditorium stages, to designated dirt areas in the boonies. The creative juices have been flowing, resulting in ten new original tunes presented here, along with adaptations of five of are favorites.
We hope Cactus Island Stomp takes you back to a time when music was entertainment, rather than just a collection of notes and singing. Back to a time when the family gathered around the radio on a Saturday night, when cowboy crooners were playing with Hawaiian bands, and the steel guitar was making its way to the mainland, helping to define country music as we know it today. Back when "novelty" songs were not so novel, and music was just plain fun. Back when Jug Bands from the rural south were pounding away on primitive and often homemade instruments.
Kick back, crank it up, and enjoy Cactus Island Stomp.
P.S. No vintage instruments were harmed in the making of this recording, but we sure pounded hard on some!!!
