About me:
The KAHUNAS Surf/Rock Band was formed by David Dupuis in 1997. On lead vocals and lead guitar Dupuis brings the classic surf guitar sound as well as vocals with feeling.
On the bass guitar and vocals is Charlie Bragg. He was born in New York City and raised in Southern California. Charlie brings a dynamic stage presence to the group with classic bass runs and vocals.
The groups original members also consisted of Dan Coe on rhythm guitar and vocals with Mondo on the bongo. Mondo left the band to follow Carlos Santana across the country.
His replacement was 18 year old Leah Coe on the drums. Leah left to marry and have a child. Dan left to pursue a country music career and is currently serving in the United States Army in Afghanistan.
This left Dupuis and Bragg to find a drummer. They wanted someone to stick with them, cut a demo CD and start playing locally in Southern California.
They were introduced to Chris Young at a rehersal studio in Torrance, CA. Chris originally from England is a versatile drummer with road experience as well as plenty of studio work to his credit. Chris brings a steady surf beat to the trio, classic drum rolls, and backing vocals.
The band has played everywhere in the South Bay, including The Pitcher House, Hermosa Bch., CA, Suzy's, Redondo Bch., CA, Latitudes, Redondo Bch., CA, Point Break Tiki Lounge, Redondo Bch., CA, The Irish Tower, Bellflower, CA, and The Don Laughlin Resort in Laughlin, Nevada.
They have also played private parties, weddings, fairs, and luau's. The Kahunas have lot's of fun on stage and helped raise funds for breast cancer and New Orleans hurricane victims at benefit shows.
