Every now and then in this line of work, something comes along that catches you completely off-guard. The Kerosene Man, a one-man band helmed by Belgium's Steve Gillespie, is one of those things.

After more than a decade of searching for musicians in his home country that might join his unique musical vision Steve left Canada to marry the love of his life. In his new home, Belgium, he continued the seach for another four years. Then Steve had an epiphany of anger. He looked at the world of music as he saw it with it's labels and bands, both big and small and said, "FUCK 'EM ALL! I'm just going to do it myself!!"
In 2007, armed with an Epiphone SG (Emily the Strange series,) a cheap-ass Les Paul copy with a custom pick-up, an OLP four string bass, a X3 Live by Line 6 and Addictive Drums by XLN audio Steve turned the bluesy-metal rhythms and riffs he'd been writing and playing for years into darkly humorous or just plain pissed off songs.
Then came the time to name his musical project. As a working stiff, our hero, like so many others, listens to his favorite music on the way to and from his job. He was travelling home after one especially trying day when he heard the scratchy vocals of Southern Voodoo lead singer Dominique "Do" De Vos belt out "I'm The Kerosene Man!!" After working up the nerve, he asked the outrageous Voodoo front-man if he could use the name and musical infamy was made.
The Kerosene Man is currently celebrating the release of "Wuss,"his first self-published cd. A conglomeration of dark humor and anger best represented by the title track, "Wuss" (a pseudo-instrumental track with audio "scenes" instead of lyrics wherein he procedes to kick the crap out of Death himself) and Hell Is Other People (once described as the angriest polka ever written) where his deep anger towards his own species reaches a cressendo as he asks the listener, "Are those your kids? FUCK! Do you feed 'em with a slingshot??"
The Kerosene Man, still going it alone is already starting work on a second cd.
This crazy Asshole with petroleum in his soul is full of a fire that won't be put out.........so you might as well light it up or he'll burn you down!!!
