The Kerrville Music Festivals are family oriented events which are held each year on the Quiet Valley Ranch, just 9 miles south of the resort town of Kerrville in the heart of the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Our two annual festivals are the Kerrville Folk Festival and the Kerrville Wine & Music Festival. Founded by Rod Kennedy, the Kerrville Folk Festival has run annually since 1972. It is the longest continuously running music festival of its kind in North America. For 18 straight days and nights each May and June, over 30,000 guests come from all over the world to experience the magic of what we simply call Kerrville. The Festival is known internationally as a Mecca for singer songwriters of varying musical style. Its a place where those just developing their skills have the opportunity to play their music along- side master craftsmen. Over 1500 outstanding singer-songwriters have been presented on the Festivals stages since the beginning. More than just a folk music festival, Kerrville offers music of many styles including traditional folk, bluegrass, acoustic rock, blues, country, jazz, and Americana. The common thread is songwriting. The focus of the festivals is to promote emerging artists while giving our audience exposure to both new and recognized, seasoned talent. Major label artists such as Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, Michelle Shocked, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Robert Earl Keen, Lucinda Williams, and Nancy Griffith played Kerrville early in their careers. You can still see other nationally known artists like Peter Paul & Mary, Judy Collins, Janis Ian, and singer/songwriter/actor Ronny Cox play on our stages any given year. While many folks come out just to see the evening main stage shows, the heart and soul of the festival is in the campgrounds. This is where you can truly experience and appreciate the abundance of talent we are blessed to have in our midst each year. Impromptu jam sessions can pop up at any time around a campfire or anywhere there are people willing to listen. A 24-hour a day treat for musicians and music enthusiasts alike. In addition to the live music there are also special concerts and activities for children, songwriting schools, music business seminars, hill country bike rides, canoe trips on the Guadalupe River, Sunday Folk Song Services, and our annual New Folk Competition and concerts for emerging songwriters. There is something for everyone who enjoys music, camping, the outdoors, and making new friends. So whether you come out for a day, weekend or for the entire Festival, youll find that the music, the ambiance, and the spiritual optimism combine to make this Americas most beloved and respected songwriters gathering. The Kerrville Wine & Music Festival, or Little Folk as some call it, has a similar musical format to that of the Kerrville Folk Festival, but the focus is also on Texas Wines. Held each year over Labor Day weekend this annual 3-day event, combines camping, music, and the best wines Texas winemakers have to offer. In addition to afternoon and evening concerts, there are Saturday and Sunday wine seminars which pair food morsels with the vintners choice of wine. Come on out and enjoy the magic of one of the Kerrville Music Festivals. Youll be glad you did and you will want to come back every year.
Who I'd like to meet:

If you love music and wonderful people, we want to meet you!! We "Welcome Home" everyone.

Just getting the word out to remind our Songwriter Friends that this Friday (June 27th) is the extended SCHOLARSHIP application postmark deadline for Skip Ewing's Horse & Writer "Invitational." A 7-day writer's retreat like no other, during which You'll be given personal guidance by Skip and three other multi-award winning hit songwriters. This year: Deanna Bryant ("Stupid Boy," "Johnny and June," "Don't Make Me"), Clay Mills ("Fall," "Beautiful Mess," "Don't Think I Don't Think About It"), and Chris Wallin ("Love Me If You Can," "Don't Blink")

Apply for one of up to 20 scholarships to attend Horse & Writer Invitational for $0 tuition, but do it soon (by Friday)! Scholarship covers all food/lodging/education/riding. (You don't have to ride horses to participate.)

Don't worry if it's not the perfect demo, we're listening to submitted songs that represent their writers. You'll be heard for your writing, not production.

Visit the Official Horse & Writer website: www. horseandwriter. com

And please contact us if You have any questions: theteam@ horseandwriter. com

Much joy,

Hey there:)

I just wanted to say again how much I enjoyed my first time at the Festival. The community was outstanding and a lot of new friendships and connections were made. Now I understand better the vacant look on somebody's face when talking about Kerrville in midst of a city walk:)

I need to come back next year and then again, and again...

All my best wishes

Attention ALL Kerrverted pet parents: Do not, I repeat, do NOT let Calamity Jane or her daughter Terri babysit your much loved critters during both Big Folk and Little Folk. Due to their unspeakable negligence, my beautiful 4 1/2 month old puppy, Djanga, was hit and killed by a vehicle while in their "care". Terri had told me they were going to put her body in the freezer for me, but Calamity Jane went and buried her on their property without even asking me 1st.I did'nt find out until late afternoon the following day. I had to dig her up so I could see her and so I could bring her back to Houston for a proper burial near her family and the friends (both human and animal) who truly love her. I refused to let them throw her away like last week's garbage. She deserved far more respect than that. If you do allow them to babysit your critter, you will be putting your much loved furry kid in grave danger. I dont want what happened to Djanga and I to happen to anyone else and I am doing everything in my power to make sure of it.

...and now the serious withdrawal sets in as I attempt to take in all that this past several wonderful weeks has meant to me (but I must admit to relishing the air conditioning and a real bed now that I'm back at the house)!
Thank you for a lovely time beneath the star lit nights and breezy days of memorable sounds and experiences.
See you in the Fall at "Little Folk"!

Absolutely your welcome, you can copy them from my album if you haven't yet. I wish I had gotten more. If you know Susan Rhodes, tell her to look at Lori's pictures, she knows me & I know she'll appreciate them too, she used to come watch my exes band The Volunteer Fireants and has taken some really awesome photos over the years.

MY DEAR KERR FAMILY,
you SO rock my world!!! What a beautiful time with you, for 10 days, sleeping/singing/living together under the texas sky in the hill country. You always exceed my expectations! The weather was perfect (dusty, no rain) with clouds in the eves and morning to stave off the heat. Swimming in the Medina is a trip to church. God IS in the water.
A spiritual meeting of the hearts and minds. Out politicians would do well to come stay for a few days at kerrville. They would see a community working together, loving together, creating together. Thanks to the folks that make kerrville happen. My life is sweeter for it.
love Caroline
