The Keystone Effect entered the Rock and Roll world in 2004 when Chris Kiertz (lead singer/ rhythm guitar) and Chris Brechlin (drums) started jamming together at the gallery. After Brendan Reilly (bass) joined in 2007, and Erik Edeen (lead guitar/ back up vocals) in 2008, the group was primed to explode onto a virtually untouched music scene at the University of Connecticut.
The souls of The Beatles, Pearl Jam, Tom Petty, Bob Marley, and many more of music’s greatest performers have been reborn in The Keystone Effect, making it an excitingly fresh and versatile band. The second they step onto the stage the audience is tuned-in to hear the gently corrupted guitar riffs blending with the groovy crunch of the drumbeats that powerfully collide with the bass’s unrestrained funky rhythms. If the The Keystone Effect’s music doesn’t steal your soul with the first note then the band’s electricity is guaranteed to captivate it.
In 2007, the group began to redesign nightlife on UConn’s campus, and after only a year it had entrenched itself as one of, if not the biggest feel good Rock and Roll bands in the area. They played at Tequila Cove and became the first band in five years to play at Huskies Restaurant & Bar, a long established hot-spot in Storrs, sparking a musical revolution in the college town. The Keystone Effect rocked the main stage of the Webster Theatre in Hartford, CT on February 17th, 2009, opening for Ludo. The band is also well known for its philanthropic involvement, performing at ECSU’s Democracy Reborn, Huskython (CT Children’s Hospital), Relay for Life, and UConn’s Greek Week BBQ. Expect professional recordings by the Summer of 2009.
